To all Jewish CC friends

I was invited to a house party where the theme was a combined celebration of Christmas and Hanukkah.

Got to enjoy plenty of potato latkes with sour cream, apple sauce, and combining the two(great flavor combination) along with some jellied donut holes, spiced wine, spiked hot cocoa, and other delicacies. Got to watch some new friends perform various acts/music.

Happy Hanukkah and happy holidays to everyone!

I don’t know if the question about a sukkah was for me personally but up until Hurricane Sandy demolished by brother-in-laws sukkah we always shared the holiday with them…

Happy Hanukkah to everyone!

I so want a jelly doughnut, but my currently temperamental tummy says no. Maybe by the time we’ve got the menorah here I’ll be up for fried foods. I have been enjoying Chanukah music YouTube videos  Hm, where’s the box with the CDs?

Happy Chanukah to my Jewish CC friends!

And Merry Christmas to all my Christian CC friends.

Cobrat, we call that Christmakah. It was “a thing” in recent years when the two holidays overlapped.

Also, I wonder if the spelling is tied to the part of the country we are from? I always use Chanukah and I am from the NY area originally.

^ I’m from southern Ct. and I spell it with an H.

And from us the religiously complicated family and friends: Happy Chrismakah!

I grew up in the midwest and always spelled it “Chanukah”; my maiden name was originally from the Hebrew and had both the “ch” and “ts” sounds. Yet for years my mother has spelled the holiday “Hanukah”.

Adam Sandler spells it “Chanukah,” not that he’s the arbiter of spelling.

I’m from NY and spell it Chanukah.

Born in Brooklyn and raised in BH…Chanukah…no matter how one spells it…as long as potatoes and shiny objects are involved I am happy.

Man, why doesn’t the translation in my book read like Ellebud’s?
“And G-d said, ‘Let there be shiny objects…’”

You gotta “ch” when you say it"
–rugrats

Have a happy, everyone!

Happy Chanukah to all and to all a good night! x8.

And God said, : Let there be artwork in the form of shiny objects. There will be celebration…much celebration and adoration AND a fine lessons on geology and geography."

…and yes, the CC based discussion on blood diamonds…

Back to basics - they tried to kill us, we beat them, let’s eat.

^^Funny!
I made latkes last night for the first time in years because of this thread and because my boys arrived home from college yesterday! Yumm-o!

Just about any Jewish story would end with “let’s eat”. It’s just the beginning and middle of the story that varies.

Happy chanukah everyone. Older s said he and fiancee made latkes with her parents, and younger s and his non-jewish gf sent a picture in front of a giant menorah. That made my day.
