To apply colleges in MA for Nursing, 3.8 GPA and SAT 1280 is sufficient? Any thoughts?

Hi everyone,

My GPA is 3.8 (weighted) and my SAT score is 1280. I’m interested in pursuing an undergraduate Nursing (BSN) program at one of the UMass campuses.

Based on these scores, do you think I have a chance of getting admission to UMass Boston, UMass Dartmouth, or UMass Lowell Nursing? Please let me know your thoughts.

Regards,

JD

What’s your unweighted gpa? The school is easy to get into but it doesn’t mean nursing is. They don’t seem to post nursing admission stats - so contact admissions and ask.

@2plustrio do you have any idea?

Weighted GPA means little without knowing the weighting system.

What is your unweighted GPA, and what kind of courses in the usual subject areas will you have?

OP- can your guidance counselor help you sort through your HS’s data to see if anyone from your HS applied to these U’s for nursing over the last few years? Since we don’t know your HS, it’s hard to tell if 3.8 means “outstanding”, or “really strong” or “anyone who shows up for class gets at least a B+”. Nursing is quirky, so seeing how other students from your HS have fared is a better indicator than asking a bunch of strangers on the internet who lack context!

Not totally familiar with their current admissions rates but you may be surprised and get acceptance to one of them. You wont know till you try!
