do you have to have all As, or can it be about a 3-1 ratio of As to Bs? Would you factor in GPA and honors/AP classes?

For example, a B student would have a 3.0 GPA (2.7-3.3 range) and have mostly Bs, right?

If I made a chart, here is how I might classify this based on GPA, on a general scale disregarding the weighted honors/AP classes:

3.7 and above - ‘A’ student
3.4-3.6 - ‘A/B’ student
2.7-3.3 - ‘B’ student
2.4-2.6 - ‘B/C’ student
1.7-2.3 - ‘C’ student
etc…

I consider an A student to have above a 3.9 UW, but that’s my skewed opinion.

Hmm, I think an A student should only have gotten a MAX of like 1 or 2 B’s ever .

A student = person who gets all As

i agree with databox

So you’re calling someone who graduates with a 3.989 (one A- ever) an A- student?

I agree with the OP – A-s are still As…

An A- average at my school is a 3.5 even in honors, but its a 3.75 if your in all AP
Are there any other schools like this?

In general, I think people usually mean someone who gets mostly As (more As than Bs) when they refer to an A student.

3.8+ I consider an A student.

…at our school an A is an A
it’s great cause no matter how low an A we still get a 4.0

i always figured if you have above a 3.5 you can be considered an “A” student, at least by most people’s standards.

a 3.5+ means you had more Bs than As.

Get a life. making a chart… sheesh…

Hey, I like making charts! It’s kinda fun sometimes…

I think an A student is somebody who gets mostly As.

for asians, “a means average”, lol.

Who cares what constitutes an A student? Colleges won’t look at your transcript and say “Oh, we don’t consider this guy an A student. Rejected!” Seriously.

For the sake of discussion, an A student should have mostly A’s. (3/4 or more) A straight A student must have A- or higher for all grades.
