To do, or not to do: that is the question

Hi All,

I’m applying to the University of Michigan, and am faced with a dilemma regarding residency classification. Although I am not, as of now, a resident in U Mich’s eyes — I don’t meet the lived in Michigan for three years criterion — I will be by next September, when the fall term begins. So should I mark that I am a resident on the Common App, since I will be when I actually start my classes, or should I not?
