Which school has better placement for law schools such as Stanford, Berkeley, or UCLA? Which school do law schools favor more?

Thanks in advance.

I don’t know the exact numbers but my sister went to Northwestern and she’s going to Georgetown Law next year.

I’ll make this easy for you: Brown.

Either one will help you…

NU provides an overall better undergrad experience in my opinion, especially because of its location (if you’ve visited, you know what i mean)

Fall 2005 grads at Harvard Law School:
Harvard 232
Yale 126
Stanford 91
Princeton 65
Duke 55
Penn 53
Brown 51
Columbia 44
Berkeley 43
UCLA 41
Cornell 40
Georgetown 33
Dartmouth 31
Texas 31
Michigan 24
Brigham Young 24
Virginia 23
Northwestern 22

I do believe Harvard is quite far from California…

Such numbers are also not a good sign of who is going to top schools, as all they show is how many people went to… Harvard.

Harvard is one of the few law schools that post college breakdowns like this, so it somewhat answers the question of “Which school do law schools favor more?”

In any case, LSAT and GPA will make up the vast majority of your application, and undergraduate institution plays a relatively minor role.

Also, those numbers are for all 3 years. We have no way of knowing how many people actually are from each school each year.

and also keep in mind that the ucla student body’s a lot larger than northwestern’s.

also, NU students might be more likely to apply to top midwest law schools, such as Northwestern or Notre Dame.

or Chicago…

But, I do give Brown the edge in being the more intellectual school.

http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/brief/natudoc/tier1/t1natudoc_brief.php

NU - 12th
Brown - 15th

This does not prove anything, but i thought i would just point that out.

Notre Dame is not a top law school by any stretch of human imagination.

True, but NU does send many people to Michigan, Chicago, and Northwestern.

Does anyone have the list for Yale Law?

northwestern is the top feeder school for both northwestern and uchicago law, ranked 11th? and 4th in the nation, respectively. How that translates to California law schools, I’m not sure. Although I would be willing to bet Brown does not carry alot of clout on the west coast.

People on the east coast like their east coast schools, and people in the midwest associated with the east coast like their east coast schools, but people in california i think have a different basis for assessment.

A wise man said that while grad school prepares you for a living – undergrad prepares you for LIVING. Moreover, college is/should be among the best 4 years of your life. Take it from an all-Ivy lawyer – DON’T pick your undergrad based on where it will get you… pick it based on how it will help you to become the best “you” that you can be! On top of everything else, that’s the way you’re most likely to be successful – where you’re happy!
