Forgive me if this question sounds.
I figure you probably have to go to community college first anyways.
But I just wanted to ask and make sure…
…
I have maybe a year or like a year and a quarter or two left until I graduate from my community college.
But I have finished most of my film/filmmaking classes that they have.
So I know how to do certain things (not a total 100% expert though)
But now I’m having to do the harder, sometimes not interesting prerequisite classes. A lot of stuff that has nothing to do with film or art.
Thanks !
Peace.
Are you looking to transfer to a specific school? You should contact someone at the school you wish to go to and see what credits you can already transfer. In general you do NOT need to finish your associates first, you can transfer somewhere after your first year of college if you get an acceptance somewhere else.
The quicker you find out the less time and money you’ll be spending on things that wouldn’t be counted towards the degree you’d like to have.
NOTE: you may have more than 2 years of schooling left if you get an associates. I teach in a program where we have many successful transfers from community colleges. However, even if they’ve finished two years/associates at CCs, they still often need 3 more years at our school to graduate with a BFA because most art majors have a track of classes they need to follow so the transfers enter that track as sophomores NOT juniors.
I honestly don’t mean to be rude, but your comment that “now I’m having to do the harder, sometimes not interesting prerequisite classes. A lot of stuff that has nothing to do with film or art” is NOT the sort of attitude that successful artists have. Be open minded. Develop some curiosity about topics outside your specific field of film.
