To Hell and back

After my successful surgery ,I came home ,only to develop a raging infection .I reentered the hospital with a temperature of 103.1 and spend 5 days with continuous IV drip of various antibiotics . At one point , I truly questioned whether I would leave the hospital anytime soon . My cellmate was a 90ish year old woman who only moaned /whimpered softly and seemed barely alive . She never left the bed . Thankfully, I did improve and am at home again . I am grateful to be out .

YOU POOR THING! That stinks. Hang in there.

That’s awful. Here’s to a smooth recovery from here on.

Sorry to hear you suffered so much. It is bad enough having to undergo surgery under the best of conditions, but to develop an infection really adds insult to injury. Take care and get that ordeal behind you!

I clicked on this thread steeling myself to read yet another post about some poor kid who “only got into Cornell after being rejected by Harvard, Yale and Princeton”!

Nope, your trials truly qualify. Welcome back. May you stay healthy from here on out. (-:

So sorry you had to go through all of that. Hopefully you will have smooth sailing from her on out!

I’m sorry to hear about your miserable experience. I hope you’re on the road to recovery.

It’s like jail, isn’t it? And you don’t get to pick your cellmate.

Sorry you had to go through this uncomfortable and tedious experience.

Welcome home! Glad you are on the mend.

Glad to have you back fauxmaven!

(I mean ,glad to have you back ,fauxmaven !)

So sorry that you went through all of that! Sending best wishes to you!

Glad you have been sprung and sorry you had such a bad time.

I’m so sorry, fauxmaven, that’s really awful. (Having suffered through one major post-surgical infection in the last decade that took months to heal, and one that wasn’t so major, I have a good idea what you went through, and wouldn’t wish it on anyone.)

I’m so glad you’re feeling better, and are home again where rest is really possible. Please take it easy!

And no, you don’t get to choose your cellmate. I’ve had several who screamed all night, but the worst was when someone died in the bed next to mine. Not fun.

fauxmaven, very sorry to hear about this. I was wondering what happened to you. Glad you’re back among the living and hope you’re feeling better.

Ugh faux… sounds awful! You hear about people getting infections post surgery but somehow it doesn’t seem real in that sterile-looking hospital setting. Glad to hear you’re on the mend – and doesn’t home seem wonderful right now?

So glad you’re back with us!

I am so glad you’re out of the woods, fauxmaven, and out of the hospital! I hope that you will be able to take it easy for the next week or so, or until your strength is back.

So sorry! I know you said you were bored post surgery, but that is a horrible diversion. Let us know how it is going, ok?

So happy to see you back, at least we get to know what hell is like.

Eek, Fauxmaven! Infections can be very scary…glad that they treated it so aggressively.
