This is a Chinese commercial for a Skype-like/IM service, described and subtitled by a Chinese student who is now a graduate student at Harvard. Beware, it is a tearjerker.

Wow. Thanks for posting. As a fifty-something anticipating the flight of my own little birdies, I often think about what it must have been like for my mother to watch me leave Iowa for New York State where I met and married an Army officer who took me off to Germany…

Strangely ,I did not cry, but I am a recent empty nester ,unemployed ,57 , with too much time on my hands! It must sound strange to younger people ,always rushing about ,to imagine lots of free time . I recently learned to text my kids on the phone ,and I love sending and getting messages . Mostly now ,I spend alot of time trying to do nice things for my 4 kids.It was a wonderful commercial !

Yup, I teared-up, too. The mom is so sweet! It was good to see the son finally coming to appreciate her. I cry over hallmark commercials, too.:D

I think I’m going to send this to my parents. I’m not an overseas student, but it certainly does resonate with me. And strangely enough, not only do I attend the university briefly featured in the commercial, but Ella Chou and I share the same hometown. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, it does resonate–the impatience and then the missing by us and at least D (not quite sure about S). Thanks for posting–may send the link along.
