To the most honourable Columbians: how may I be part of you?

The most honourable Ivy League Columbia students of 2011,
I am a pathetic, if not despicable, newly-admitted UCLA undergrad, class of 2012. I have already determine that UCLA is not my ideal school, because my major, business economics, is a bad major in UCLA, plus UCLA is not that good anyways. I feel greatly ashamed to be rejected by Columbia several months ago. I want to know if it is worth for me to try again for Columbia next year when I transfer. I realize that I was rejected when the regular admission rate was around 10%; I have no confidence that Columbia will take me when the transfer admission rate is around 7% or less. If it seems very unlikely that Columbia will ever take me, then I will save some time for the less competitive Ivies like Cornell.

In conclusion, I am very depressed that I didn’t get in any desired schools (i.e. Ivy Leagues or Stanford). Even Berkeley rejected me. I am stuck in UCLA, only because I have no where else to go. I can work my butt off next year if it can make me get out of LA and go to the most honourable Columbia. However, because I know 1980 is considered a very low score to any Ivy League school, I am kinda disheartened to ever try again, but maybe. So please, tell me what I should do. Thank you!

This can’t be real.
UCLA is a very good school. They will try to teach you more than you can possibly learn. Just study hard and enjoy the school. You’ll learn as much as you can and enjoy winter a lot more than anyone in Ivies or Stanford.

Get involved deeply with a couple of ECs at ucla, get close to a 4.0, and have a pressing yet somewhat individual reason to come to columbia. answer the following in your app:

“why you’ll fit here / what challenges you look forward to”
“why you’ll excel here”
“what stops you from doing the same at ucla”

Yeah thank you. Are these real questions on the application essay? Or they are just questions I should answer even if they don’t ask me this on essay?
But anyway thanks a lot. I will seriously think of how to answer them as I spend my first year at my current school.
