2009-Samford University(Birmingham too, what gives?)

Um…that would be me…and I have no idea. I’ve only been accepted to Mizzou school of journalism and UW Madison. Chances are I will be going somewhere else. Last year’s val went to Madison, though. People way less smart and less driven ended up at Notre Dame, Macalester (sp?) Carlson biz school, and a few other selective schools.

2008 went to Harvard, where a paper that he sent in to them (as some sort of extra portfolio or something?) was also accepted as an Honors senior thesis.
Basically all the other val’s went to Yale. basically, our entire school goes to yale. like, probably 10-20% of the class each year goes to yale. meh

^^ Hopkins School?

Word to that. How’d you know? Where do you go?

haha, just have a couple friends there :)

My son’s school has nine valedictorians this year, four of whom have been designated state scholars. Of the four, one to Yale, one to Columbia and two waiting.

2009 … undetermined
2008 … WVU full scholarship
2007 … Notre Dame
2006 … UPenn
2005 … Williams

2009- undetermined (applied to princeton, stanford, uc’s, etc.)
2008- stanford
2007- Yale
2006- Northwestern
2005- Harvard
2004- idk
but then again, vals are kinda ambiguous, as rank 1 does not necessarily mean you are val in my school. but then again, sometimes it does

well for 2008, 2007, 2006 etc they always go to LA Tech

we have never sent someone to a school ranked in the top 100 schools

You “picked it over some Ivies”? So you it’s Feb and you know that you are in at several Ivies?

2008- there were two and they went to harvard.
2007- harvard once again
2006- harvard…

you get the trend. we are in a big school with over 2600+ so there are plenty of smart people.

Uhm, we don’t rank. But I’ll use my opinion
2008 - UC Berkeley (guess who)
2007 - Tulane University (but then she transfered to an arts school in London)
2006 - Penn State/Univ of Nottingham/CSUSB
2005 - Foothill College (transferred to UCSD)
2004 - Monash University (single graduate FTW!)

last year, our v took UCLA over Harvard.

but its cause she wanted to be closer to her parents.

Not meaning to depress Stanford applicants, but at my HS… in the SF Bay Area, our Valedictorian got DENIED for Early Admission at Stanford, even though:

He has a perfect A GPA, not ever a B, ever for 4 years, plus loads of APs

He got a 2350 SAT

He was legacy, two generations.

He has mega EC’s

He didn’t need financial aid

Note he was DENIED, and not DEFERRED.

Go figure )-:

I don’t have a chance.

Last year our val. got accepted to every ivy league except Harvard but at the end he decided to go to UNC-CH on Morehead-Cain Scholarship (sp mistake maybe)
