To Which Schools Did Your School Valedictorian Get Accepted?

06- Harvard (note: eleven students, including the val got into harvard that year)
07-Harvard
08-Harvard
09-currently, MIT(our sal got into Oxford, UK)

07 - Stanford after being defered SCEA
06 - Harvard

I’m one of the val’s this year.

Going to either Yale or UNC-CH on the Morehead-Cain (finalist. I’ll know March 5th if I got it).

Duke, MIT, Harvard, Yale and UPENN acceptances for my valedictorian last year.

lol i think our valedictorian this year is going to texas tech.

My school doesn’t rank, but someone who I’m guessing probably had one of the highest GPAs went to Pomona. I have the highest GPA this year and I applied EDII to Pomona so… I’m reallllly hoping to continue the trend!

It was kind of weird actually, I wanted to go to Pomona before I found out she had applied. Coincidence.

mine doesn’t rank but the kid who would be val got into Yale EA and is waiting for harvard RD. he has some ridiculous internationally recognized accomplishments

he is probably one of the .01% of (non-hooked) applicants to HY who would be guaranteed acceptance

2006: Valedictorian went to Princeton. Don’t remember where Sal went- I think it was Yale, but I’m not sure.
2007: Harvard- she had the highest GPA ever recorded at our school. Two sals; one to Rice, and other to Yale.
2008: two vals; one ED to Brown, and the other was accepted at MIT and Princeton- went to Princeton. Sal went to Yale.
2009: Not sure if I’m going to be valedictorian, or another guy, or even another girl, but both the guy and I got into Yale Early Action. We’re both waiting on Harvard and Princeton.

Good luck to all of you guys- hope to hear good news on this forum in a few weeks!

2006- U chicago
2007- U michigan
2008- Lehigh
2009- yet to be determined

2008- UC Berkeley
2007- Georgetown

For mine:
Cal and UC Davis

MIchigan State Person: I went to MSU on a free ride scholarship many years ago (early 1980s). They still have this competition. Did you take it and earn the scholarship, or is the ‘almost free ride’ from another offer? MSU is quite good if you go the honors college route, but I have to say it’s still not the same thing as a better tiered school (I still visit and have friends with children who go). It does have some very bright students (as well as a lot of party people), and some great classes and flexibility -I took graduate level classes when I was an undergraduate - but the school is very, very insular, with almost all white midwesterners (I still visit), and some African Americans --the two races segregate themselves. If you really did get into ivies, you shouldn’t dismiss them out of hand–they often can give you a great financial deal.

By the way, and I dont’ know if someone else has already brought this up, but I find it pretty funny that this post about Valedictorians is so ungrammatical–To Which Schools Did Your School Valedictorian Get Accepted??? How about “Which schools Did Your School Val Get Accepted In???” It’s ‘in,’ not ‘to!!’ Also, it’s ok to split prepositions. But if you’re allergic and fussy with the preposition, then you should say, “Into Which Schools …”

But really, I find it fascinating that so many of you know where your V’s are going! Are they really that important in your school? Why? is it something your school population really talks about? What about politics, the economy, the job situation, Darfur, etc? And why is it so important to wonder where the V is going to college? Who cares? What about the kid who is, God forbid, number 5? What about number 200?

^ Actually, it’s ‘to,’ not ‘in.’ You’re accepted to someplace, not in someplace. What do you mean by splitting prepositions? ‘Which’ is not a preposition. It’s being discussed because it’s interesting discussion. I don’t think it takes away from those who aren’t valedictorians at all. It also doesn’t take away from the importance of politics, etc., but as this is a college discussion forum it’s natural that topics such as this take precedence. I like your username.

Our 07 and 08 valedictorians both went to UNC-Chapel Hill.

Yeah you get accepted to college, not accepted in college.

Remember these are high schoolers we are talking about.

I wish my school was more ambitious. Our valedictorian is set on Spring Arbor (and she’s a super high-statted Native American!), and I think our sal is going to Ohio State.

I’m 9th, lol.

^I know where my school Vs go because I’m friends with them and know them. You know, as much as we talk about college acceptances, we do talk about politics and the economy, which is probably why our school is recognized for debate, acadec, and organizing events regarding Darfur and such. Please stop generalizing.
