To Which Schools Did Your School Valedictorian Get Accepted?

2007 - Hopkins
2008 - Harvard, but also accepted to Columbia, Brown, Georgetown, Amherst, Williams, Tufts, and others, all with a freaking 1890 SAT! (URMness to rescue ^.^)

^ this is exactly why i HATE urm’s sometimes…makes me kinda mad

2009: I’m the Vale this year. So far I’ve gotten into Duke and UF (full ride) and I’ve been waitlisted by UChicago, Williams, and Amherst. I’ll have more to add to the list at about 7pm tomorrow.

2008: University of South Florida (Full Ride through medical)
2007: University of South Florida (Full Ride through medical)
2006: Duke

USF and UF take alot of our top students. FinAid is very generous in Florida.

my daughter the 2009 Val at her school

accepted Wellesley, Whitman, Lewis and Clark

waitlisted, Bowdoin, Middlebury, and Williams

two other kids from her school got into Williams. She has a 4.062 GPA, taking every AP course available at her school, speaks German without an accent having spent every other Summer of her life there. She is the yearbook editor, played Volleyball, and skied cross country. She grew up in Aspen and is an amazing downhill skier. Her ACT, SAT scores were in range, to top of the range for verbal. She is 100% self motivated. Middlebury admissions knew exactly who she was when we called without grabbing a file, and encouraged us to send in more “stuff”. She had her heart set on Bowdoin so did not visit Middlebury, but at this point has more interest in Middlebury. I am sure it will work out for her no matter what she does, but a little discouraging not to get one of her top choices.

I doubt that this personal pet peeve is agreed with by any of the most authoritative English grammar reference books.

Val (my friend ;p): MIT, Cornell, Cooper Union, Princeton
Sal (me ^-^): Duke, Carnegie Mellon, University of Michigan

Valedictorian:
Accepted - Harvey-Mudd (Finalist for full ride scholarship), Ga Tech, Cal Poly SLO
Rejected - Stanford
Wait Listed - Cal Tech, MIT

2007: Attending Dartmouth
2008: Attending Penn (Vagelos)
2009: Princeton, Yale, Cornell, Dartmouth

Val got into Harvard, Stanford, Princeton.
Sal got into Yale, Princeton. Waitlisted at Harvard.

3 got into Yale and Olin.

this year: upenn, duke, washU, northwestern, uPitt, case western reserve
last year: went to cornell
year before there were two: 1) went to upenn
2) went to duke - got into berkley among others

At my school there are multiple vals. I think one’s going to penn state schreyers, and the rest are going to small lac’s like lafayette and bucknell. The only students we have going to ivy league schools are athletes. Pretty pathetic…

Val’s going to Harvard. As they have for the past 4-5ish years.

However, the sal only got into WashU  Kind of a bad year.

I graduated last year, but heard about this year’s class and was very impressed. This is only the 6th graduating class we are having, and the class size is less than 40 students.

3 Valedictorians:

 1. Harvard, Yale, Princeton (attending), Columbia, Cornell, Duke Georgetown
 2. Princeton (attending)
 3. UPenn (attending), Brown

correction on the above post

Harvard, Yale, Princeton (attending), Columbia, Cornell, Duke, Georgetown

Princeton (attending), UPenn, Columbia, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon

UPenn (attending), Brown, Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon

I know that most have gone to College Park (in state). I know one went to Temple. Almost no one from my school goes anywhere but community college; maybe three or four from a class of three hundred go out of state each year.

Valedictorian here…or the Canada equivalent of it (highest average in graduating class of 250 + involvement outside classroom or what not)…rejected from 4 Ivies and Stanford. But I applied ‘a year early’ - grade 11 in Qc is the last year of high school.

full ride to Harvard and Brown

ucla (got into ucsd too, doesnt really want to go far from home)

harvard
3/4. not sure which ones which but one’s going to upenn and the other one is between wasu and uchicago

davis

harvard (got into stanford and brown too)

doesn’t sound that great, but at least for 1 and 5, they def couldve gotten into better schools if they had aspired to it. and 9 def got in purely on academics, no legacy or athletic tricks.

Our top ranked students:

 1. Stanford
 2. Yale
 3. Penn
 4. Penn
 5. Berkeley
 6. Stanford
 7. Penn

and…
39) Stanford
90) Cornell

Our val got rejected from MIT, waitlisted at Harvard and Princeton, and into Northwestern, Duke and Purdue.
