To Which Schools Did Your School Valedictorian Get Accepted?

<< #1 class rank is so overrated. valedictorian means nothing>>>

Agreed. Everyone in the top 10 is basically valedictorian material, but there can only be 1 #1 right? This isn’t a chess tournament where getting 1st place means you clearly outperformed that guy who ended up at #10.

We have three in the running at this moment (and I’m still a Senior) and one of my good friends is one of those people. I believe she is going to Cornell, but she got accepted into SIXTEEN colleges. Applied and visited all of them, Honors program interviews with a few. She is pretty crazy for doing it, but she’s going to be an amazing doctor one day.

Our valedictorian, I believe, is going to Harvard. However, she got in to Harvard, Princeton, Yale, and MIT.

yeah…

The years that I remember :

Cooper Union
Harvard
CUNY Queens
MIT

That’s the whole point of a competition and at a tough school with less grade inflation someone can pull away with a clear lead. Sure, someone can get lucky and win with a close margin but on average the best student will win. Everyone in the top 10 is top 10 material but usually only one person is valedictorian material. There may be a big difference and there may be a small difference between top 10 material and valedictorian material but don’t confuse being close with being there.

Mine got into Rice, Northeastern, and a few other flagships I believe. He’s going to Bentley for a full ride.

2 to Cornell.

3 to MIT.

Our came to america 5 years ago (hispanic) had 106 GPA, took all ap’s and got accepted to and had full rides to Harvard, Princeton,Yale,MIT,Stanford, and Columiba. He enrolled in Yale :)

That is a marvelous over-generalization

Got accepted to Brown, Cornell (Partial Scholarship), UNC, Wake Forest, and Duke

He will be attending Duke with a full-ride

Valedictorians are supremely overrated. GPA means jack squat in relation to intelligence.

^Hence your username?

No class rank, no valedictorian system, nada- Everyone knows who the top 2-3 are, though, so I’ll do top 2:

WLed by H, rejected YP, going to Columbia (I think he’s quite happy but people here are shocked, believe me (ridiculously competitive school))

Early to Yale, don’t think she applied anywhere else

Well, I’m the Valedictorian and it didn’t get me far. Got rejected from Princeton and Brown, waitlisted at Penn, and attending Carnegie Mellon. My high school has never had a graduate go to an ivy league. Oh well, can’t say I didn’t try.

^Turning your nose up at a world-class university is very unbecoming of you.

Our valedictorian got rejected from Harvard, brown, yale, columbia, and MIT. She was a psycho and concentrated a little too much on schoolwork (she had like a 107 gpa) but a low sat ( i think from 2030-2050 somewhere around that). Also she basically had no significant extracurriculars and that was her downfall imo. shes going to NYU.

sal got into barnard college
rank 3 got into cooper union
rank 5 got into yale

Valedictorian accepted into Harvard, Princeton, Yale.

Going to Harvard.

Princeton, Columbia, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Swarthmore, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Smith, Barnard, all other UC’s, etc. Ultimately she chose Princeton. I wish at least one of those schools would have accepted me.

Our valedictorian going to Auburn

Our vale is probably going to Scripps. She really likes it. She also got into Barnard, Pomona, Swarthmore, and some other really great lib. arts schools.

Sal got rejected at his top choice, Caltech. Rejected at MIT. But will be at Carnegie Mellon (mom’s school, but where he did not want to go). Ehh he was a jerk for 4 years. He should be happy.

My buddy #3 is going to Stanford.

Of the other kids in top 10, umm Brown, probably UCLA, UChicago (I don’t think he’s in top 10 but maybe), UMichigan, and perhaps Swarthmore. I’m gonna end up at Princeton not top 10 but I’m up there

Ours got accepted to MIT, Yale, and the UGA Foundation Fellows program … she’s trying to decide between the latter two!
