To Which Schools Did Your School Valedictorian Get Accepted?

Besides the girls going to UPenn and UChicago and the others going to NYU Stern (2), Duke, and Harvard, today my friend (who really should be val) is going to Brown.
Another friend of mine I think got a pretty good scholarship from Boston College and is going there.

Val: University of Florida (Her boyfriend goes there, which probably swayed her decision. She was basically guaranteed admission, so there was no need for her to apply anywhere else.)
Sal: Dartmouth (attending), Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, University of Florida
Others in top 5%: Olin, Carnegie Mellon, Penn (Wharton, specifically), RPI, Rollins, Mercer, Georgia Tech

Northwestern (attending)
Univ of Chicago
U of I Engineering

he really only liked the first two, not interested in out of Illinois, so not many other options.

the valedictorian is my boyfriend, haha

he got into:
Duke
Columbia
Brown
Cornell
UCBerkeley
Stanford
University of Florida

he’s attending Stanford class of 2014

I attend a VERY rural poor public school in western PA around 120/class past few val./sal. have included:

'09 Penn State,Butler Community College
'08 Case Western, Penn State
'07 Pitt,Slippery Rock (local state school almost community)
'06 Community College, Pitt

haha…yea. nobody has ever gotten close to the top 30 or anything for undergrad. my friend’s sister is attending Oxford for grad school though, but I graduated 19/133(alot of farming classes gave kids 4.0, no weight for the few AP or honors in reality would have been around 5 haha) might be transferring to Georgetown or GWU :)

Our val is going to UGA, our sal to GT. (Although who is ranked what might change after this semester.) However, #4 is headed for Columbia, and we have other kids going to Harvard, Penn, Cornell, Caltech (maybe), Amherst–and Chicago, ofc. :)

My school doesn’t rank, but the person who is considered to have the highest GPA got in ED to Cornell.

Others amongst the top 10% are going to WashU, Duke, Dickinson College, Northwestern, 2 people to the US Naval Academy, and Yale (me, just barely top 10% :P)

the valedictorian is going to harvard and the salutatorian is going to bard :)

Haha well I’m friends with the Val and he’s going to MIT but got into Princeton, Columbia, u of Maryland, brown, dartmouth and some others… One of the girls who is like in 10th is going to brown

Our Valedictorian got accepted into every Ivy League school. She got perfect SAT, GPA, ACT :/

So to be a val at our HS (a largish public in a flyover state) requires a 4.0 and one honors class/semester. When they added the one honors/semester requirement 4 years ago, the number of vals dropped from about 15/yr to 3 this year. Really made it tough, I guess :). No weighting GPA either.

So the 3 vals are going to (as far as I can gather):

State U, not one of the top ones.
USC
ND

Val is going to Yale
3 total Yale
1 Princeton
1 Cornell

Lots of ivies and top 20’s

As usual, Harvard didn’t accept anyone from our HS.

Last year’s val at my high school (a smallish, private prep school in the South), got accepted everywhere she applied (including MIT, Penn, Yale, Harvard, etc.)
She went to Harvard, while the salutatorian went to Princeton.

I’m not quite sure who this year’s valedictorian will be, but judging from the three front runners, it’ll either be someone who is going to MIT, Vanderbilt, or Oxford.

Our val is going to Cornell, the only place that accepted him.

2009: Val: Columbia, Salut: Yale

This year the val is taking a full-ride to Alabama (chose it over Duke, and a Caine-Moorehead finalist). We have one going to Columbia, Middlebury, 2 to Wake Forest, and that might be all the top schools. This class was nothing compared to last year’s graduating class.

2007: Georgetown (accepted- with a full ride- to Villanova)

2008: Harvard (waitlisted at Georgetown SFS, rejected by Yale and Princeton)

2009: Bucknell (with partial soccer scholarship; also recruited/accepted at Brown, Cornell)

2010: Louisiana State University (honors college + full scholarship + preferential housing, etc; also accepted to Cornell, Johns Hopkins, UGA, rejected by Yale SCEA)

Congratulations to everyone who achieved valedictorian status this year and good luck to those still in the throes of class rank competition! Best of luck to all the matriculants at the great institutions mentioned in this thread, as well!

Last year were a pair of boy/girl twins. Girl went to Harvard, boy went to MIT.

This year, our valedictorian is going to Dartmouth. He didn’t get apply to HYPM, rejected by Stanford…well, you never know who’s going where for our school.

Yale, but our school is sending kids to stanford, 2 to princeton, another to yale.

I’m val and im going to georgetown
the salutatorian is going to UPitt

last years val and sal went to pennstate

^That’s insane. My val is going to University of Miami with full scholarship.
