To Which Schools Did Your School Valedictorian Get Accepted?

My son got accepted @ harvard, yale, MIT, duke as Ivies n Ivy-like schools…he didn’t apply to stanford or princeton columbia etc…he picked YALE n is loving it…he visited harvard yale n mit for the prefrosh overnites n without doing that he prbly would have picked harvard as u can take some limited classes @ mit when @ harvard…take ur sleeping bag n ur mom or dad n stay at ur top 2 or 3 choices…it costs a few extra thousand or two…but since ur going to pay $50k plus per year its not so much to be sure u pick where u feel u will be happiest n fit in n study what ur passion is…

Have ur friend visit yale if u send me a personal message I can give him or her my sons contact info n really check out yale…needs to go to Bulldog days with a parent

We don’t rank students but two seniors went to Harvard last year. I know one of them and he got into…

Harvard
Yale
Brown
Dartmouth
Columbia
Swarthmore
Stanford
and UMich

He was rejected from MIT though.

MIT EA this year. I think it was her top choice, so she’s attending/not applying elsewhere.

My school has had only 4 graduating classes so far. Half have gone to UGA, the other two to Emory. And we have a combo breaker for my class! She’s going to GA Tech.

That’s generally the case for all of the schools in my county. Yawn.

Michigan State last year. Possibly Grand Valley State or Wayne State this year. Its all in the money for them however.

2008:
Val-UVA (instate)
Sal-UPenn

2009:
Val-Pomona
Sal-Yale

2010:
Val-Naval Academy
Sal-Rice

This year my friend is in the running for valedictorian and she wants to go to Pomona

2010:
Val: Brown
Sal: Washington University in St. Louis or William & Mary (I’m not sure who our Sal was last year…it’s between two guys and I’m not sure which it was…)

2011
Val: Rutgers
Sal: Rutgers

Val was rejected from 3 of the 5 she applied to, wait listed at Amherst and accepted full ride to Rutgers…It’s weird. She has a 4.49 GPA (weighted, with the top score being 4.5. Only reason she doesn’t have a 4.5 is because our gym classes don’t give A+'s -___-) and a 2310 on her SATs.

Sal gets full ride at Rutgers b/c his father is a professor there.

Just going to list the most selective schools. Any hooks in parentheses.

Val (1/394) - Boston College (legacy)
Other kid (single digit number/394) - Yale (athletic recruit)
Me (24/394) - Notre Dame (fist gen; looking elsewhere, though)

Our valedictorian this year got accepted to Harvard, Yale, Penn, MIT, Cal Tech, Berkeley, and UCLA.

^^ Nope.

10char

My son is the Valedictorian of his class this year and he got accepted to Princeton, Dartmouth, Cornell, Brown, Tufts, Carnegie Mellon, Stony Brook and U. of Rochester. He hasn’t made a decision yet on which one to accept. Best aid packages from Princeton, Dartmouth and Cornell so they are at the top of the list.

Val - MIT, Caltech, WL at HYP
Sal - Harvard (mainly bc of theater, which takes up 40 hours a week per month. dedication right there.)

Val from another school I’m friends with - HYPS, Brown, Pomona, Swarthmore, etc. Basically everywhere he applied. (was a top scorer for Academic Decathlon)

This year:

Val: Caltech (not me though)
Sal (1): MIT
Sal (2): Williams

2009 val: MIT
2010 val: Harvard (also accepted to MIT and probably every school she applied to except Stanford)

Not sure about this year.

2010: Williams ED
2011: No idea who this year’s valedictorian is, but there’s one boy (I’m sure he’s not the val) who got into Princeton, Stanford, Oxford and Brown, and a girl (may or may not be the val) who got into Cambridge and Yale. Some others got into similar schools as well, but their GPAs are too low for them to be in contention. I’ll have to ask about the val’s identity…

(Our school doesn’t rank and the only person who actually has a rank is the valedictorian. And we don’t find out who that is officially until graduation day, but word reaches the student body around this time.)

2010: Carleton and UMass-Amherst (Rejected from Amherst College, Middlebury, Harvard, Yale, and Bowdoin) Her speech was horrible at graduation, and I’m assuming she was rejected due to a lack of EC’s in conjunction with a terrible essay.
2011: Northwestern, Brown, Duke, Purdue, McGill, and Middlebury (Rejected from Stanford and Princeton) This kid is literally Mr. Perfect. Seeing him get rejected from Stanford and Princeton make me not want to apply to my dream schools in the fall.

2009: Upenn
2010: Rutgers… dont ask me why. I think he got a full ride, but he was accepted to a bunch of ivys as well.
2011: Mit, stanford, harvard, yale, brown, cornell, ect ect. He is choosing between mit and stanford.

2011- Accepted everywhere he applied (HYPSM and others) with some top schools with merit scholarships giving him a full ride. He is a literal genius; perfect SAT’s in 7th grade, highest GPA in the 100 year history of my school, ISEF 1st place, Intel Winner, Top 50 Tennis Player in the state…
