I discovered when toaster shopping a couple years ago that red ones seem to consistently cost more.
My toaster is a really pretty blue…
I’ve never owned a toaster, nor can I recall one ever in my life except in the dorm cafeteria and at some hotels that provide comp breakfasts. I’ve owned a toaster oven most of my life, as have my parents.
My brother was a big fan of high speed toasters, and gave them to all of us for Christmas one year. I have an Avante that I am fond of, but I don’t think they make it any more. It bugs me to make toast at hotels now, takes too long.
I have the Avante, too. It has lasted longer than most of the others I’ve had. I like the unusual shape!
My husband is still talking about the Lift and Look toaster he used when we were visiting some friends. He thought it was a great feature to be able to check the progress of the toasting. I didn’t even notice it.
Surprised that some own 2 slice toasters. If my son makes eggs in the morning he eats 4 pieces of toast himself. H is the same. We couldn’t do with a 2 slicer in our house.
We use a toaster often so it’s one of the items that is on our counter. The four slice toasters are just too big. Plus! It takes all of a couple of minutes to make toast…and one person…or two can’t eat four slices at once.
@HarvestMoon1 that’s why we only have a two slice toaster.
I looked for a toaster that would properly toast a very wide piece of artisan bread and the $200 Breville I bought did not performed any better than the $30 Oyster from Target. I kept the Target one and have accepted substandard results.
We had a 4 slice toaster in the past, it became a 2 slice toaster eventually and we ditched the concept when it failed and there were just two of us. Get thee to Target.
Just checked- Walmart has the B&D one for $27.
DH doesn’t eat toast and when DS is home he rarely is eating breakfas when I am. I also like just having more room on the counter since I have way too much out already.
The problem with most toasters is that there is a gradient of heat, so the toast can get burnt at the bottom while you are trying to get that nice color at the top of the slice.
I found the receipt for the toaster and it is only 18 months old. I called Breville today and waited on hold for an hour. I know it’s close to the holidays but that is horrible customer service.
@MaterS did you talk to them…or did you give up?
I have never owned a toaster I liked. Why is this technology so hard to get right? It really shouldn’t cost $400 to toast your bread.
Breville hands down. 6 stars. The best of the best toaster. Have had two now. Exceptional.
We just buy whatever Costco sells. If it breaks, they give you a refund. We are on our 4th microwave oven from them, and have only paid for one.
Yea, that’s what we did with GPSs, until we finally decided the iPhone and googlemaps were better, then we just returned the last one we bought.
Breville is going to send a new toaster.
