Toasters that toast evenly

I am beginning to wonder if there are toasters that toast as advertised. I have become accustomed to flipping the bread halfway through to get an even crisp. Have any of you had better luck? It would be great to find a 4 slot toaster that can accommodate bagels.

I like our Cuisinart toaster-2 slots but each is big enough to accommodate two bagel halves at a time. It’s simple to use but allows you to adjust for 1-side toasting or defrosting.

Thanks. We just wore out a four slice Cuisinart. After a couple of years It was beginning to need the “flip toast” method. However, the toaster we just bought (Westinghouse, maybe?) is awful. Plan to return it.

When our 20 year old Cuisinart failed, I too got frustrated what was available and went for the big dog at Williams Sonoma. I think it was around $280. It went back for the $99 one which also went back. I was simply trying to toast a very long piece of bread somewhat evenly. I ended up getting the $30 Oster from Target and if works as well as the Wms/Sonoma ones…though still not as evenly as I would prefer. I cannot be the only one who eats the round loafed artisan breads.

I have never had a toaster that worked very well. Therefore, my strategy is to buy the cheapest toaster that accommodates the bread I use most often.

Black and Decker in the $20+ price range for 2 slots- TR1200SB, 850 watts. Has a button to push for frozen bread- we keep our bread in the freezer and it works well with that feature. Bagel, frozen, reheat, cancel choices, or just push down the lever for no modifiers. We use 4 of 7 on the dial for light browning- therefore good range.

Years ago I tried more elite/expensive brands but returned them for cheaper ones that did better. Used to have 4 slot toaster but now there are only two of us. When a past 4 slot toaster failed in all sections gave up on that concept. Discovered toaster wattage varies- lower will take longer… Consider owning two cheaper toasters.

After burning out a cheap toaster each and every year for twenty years, ten years ago I bought a Waring commercial four-slot toaster after seeing it at a hotel brunch buffet. This one: <a href=“Waring WCT805B Heavy Duty 4 Slice Toaster 208V”>Waring WCT805B Heavy Duty 4 Slice Toaster 208V;

(Note that I bought it used on EBay for way less money than that.)

It continues, ten years later, to toast evenly and well, and has been completely trouble free.

I just bought the Breville toaster oven - which toasts perfect toast and my sister has the 4 slot Breville toaster. She says best toasting ever. Not inexpensive, but worth it, imo.

Problem now is that newer stuff is not often built as well as in the past. Would the same brand today work as well for as long as the one bought a decade ago???

I have. Krups toaster, two slices, that is at least 15 years old. It’s terrific.

Another vote for Breville. But they are expensive. But since kids are gone, we can use the toaster oven for lots of things.
