today show and npc

segment now on today show re npc… interesting that one of the interviewees says dont use the npc early…to paraphrase “look at colleges, enjoy the variety, apply and worry about the cost later” she thinks the npc is making people exclude colleges based on cost…DUH!!!

lol I saw that too, made me laugh. Seems like the colleges really don’t like it because of exactly what you said, people are not applying based on their early results.

westie… i agree, she wasnt happy about it :).

So sorry the colleges don’t want to give us an idea of the true cost of college. :(

Correct. Colleges will not like anything that lowers the number of applications and thus raises their acceptance rate. Too bad.

However, the yield rate may go up, especially at colleges that do not have the money for good financial aid, since students who will turn down an acceptance for insufficient financial aid reasons will not have applied in the first place.

good point ucbalum.

She was the FA person from which college? I forget.

She was from Hamilton College.

i’m not getting what the npc is?

net price calculator–schools are required to have this on their sites now i believe.
