<p>Does anyone know what will happen if one is caught with marijuana? Say for instance you are caught in public. Would they go to the school? What if you are caught with small amounts in your dorm? I’m asking this about a friend who may be in trouble btw.</p>
<p>Your friend is risking getting their butt kicked out of the university, as well as a permanent mark on their criminal record.</p>
<p>I think he was on the street and his dorm was clean. Will the police go to the school? Or is this just a matter with the law?</p>
<p>they can bring it to the university. i know of 2 guys that almost got kicked out of the university for posession, but they were aviation majors, so that might be why.</p>
<p>divinity, cmon…</p>
<p>hey, i’m a future teacher (aka public employee). To me, getting a mark on your record for marijuana is the stupidest thing, cause the government doesn’t hire you if they see that mark on your record. Although, you can still get ELECTED into the government if you smoked up…</p>
<p>oh, taffy, am I just too up-tight and clean-cut for you? I got my priorities, you got yours.</p>
<p>I was looking around to verify that statement, and am having some trouble. Any chance you can direct me to a website which states that you can’t get a job in the govt. with minor marijuana charges?</p>
<p>Compliments of SORF, here is the official U of I policy regarding marijuana:</p>
<p>"Whether or not a criminal prosecution is brought for
a marijuana offense, the University of Illinois can
institute disciplinary proceedings against any student
who is in possession of drugs or accused of trafficking.
Currently, the sanctions that can be expected
are as follows:
- First offense for possession of small amounts of
marijuana or paraphernalia: conduct probation. - Second offense: dismissal from the University.
- First offense for sale or delivery of drugs (this
includes possession of greater quantities of
marijuana, beyond “personal use”): dismissal
from the University.
Remember, in the context of student discipline, your
constitutional protections against illegal searches
and seizures do not apply."
