Mad coincidence, eh?

Tom Clancy “predicts” conflict everywhere. One of these days, he’s bound to be right by sheer inundation of war scenarios.

That being said, he’s a hack.

Yea sure. In the end of ‘Debt of Honor’ a ****ed off Jap pilot crashes his 747 into the (Pentagon or White House, I forget). Haven’t read Clancy for a while.

edit: How is Tom Clancy a ‘hack’?

Clancy is good at “interesting” storylines and details.

He did write about an aircraft that used its shape to deflect radar waves in order to remain stealthy, and was a tactical bomber–before the F-117 was revealed…

The “Debt of Honor” kamakazie attack on the Senate was a bit eerie.

I’m hoping nobody runs with the idea from Rainbow Six or Sum of All Fears (although, Al Qaeda was trying).

Who is better?

Robert Ludlum is top notch too. really good novels.

If we’re going to compare mass paperback writers, I enjoyed The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, though I felt the ending was weak.

I only read one Stephen King novel (Pet Sematary) and it was stupid. Undead baby crawling around? Funny more than scary.

I’m not talking about ‘mass paperback writers’. I want to read a better author than Clancy in the genre of the ‘techno-thriller’. Honestly, I don’t think I care about writing ability at all. Much more important is technical authenticity and realism. Clancy seems to be right on the money versus the other stuff I’ve read.
