Tom Hanks at Wright State Gives Advice to Film Students - also True for MT/Acting

Tom Hanks was at WSU to dedicate the new Center for Motion Pictures. Here’s a link to news coverage of the event. The article mainly focuses on how the new center will benefit the creative efforts of the Motion Picures students and their award-winning faculty. A 14 minute video of Hanks’ entertaining and inspiring speech is imbedded. The beginning and end of the speech focus mainly on things related to WSU, but the central “heart” of his speech is his advice for film students that he believes will ensure their success. While he is speaking to Motion Picture students, what he has to say is equally true for anyone pursing any long-term creative endeavor. I think our MT/Acting kids who are so used to being “perfect” would be wise to take his “failure” advice to heart.
