TONS of questions-EA applicant?

I think I’m applying EA to UMich but I have a ton of questions:

First–do I have a good chance of getting in? I’m OOS, 2300 SAT, 94 gpa (no rank), published science research, speak three langauges, etc.

Do I have a chance at the honors college?

How long would it take to get to NYC from Ann Arbor?

Can I apply here EA even though I’m applying ED somewhere else?

your numbers look pretty good, as long as your other EC’s match up to that it seems like you should be fine. Although I have seen some people who were deferred/rejected who had somewhat similar stats (on the decisions thread).

you can check google maps for the length to NYC to Ann Arbor

You can apply to as many EA schools as you want as long as you’re applying to only one ED school

To do Honors College, you should contact the Honors College upon your acceptance to receive an application. I think you just write an essay and that essay determines whether you get into the Honors College or not.

Assuming a 94 average at your school is a 4.0, along with a 2300 on the SAT, I would say Michigan is a safe match.

If you are admitted, you have the stats to be admitted into the Honors program, although only a third of the students who are invited to apply to the Honors program are actually chosen.

Few people would drive from NYC to Ann Arbor. It can be done, but it takes roughly 10-12 hour of driving time. Flying takes only 90 minutes.

Since EA is not binding, you can apply EA to Michigan while applying ED to your first choice.

Thanks so much for the info. I wouldn’t drive, but how far is the nearest airport?

The Detroit airport (DTW) lies between Detroit and AA and is only 25 minutes from campus.

Hey, another question. My GC said I probably won’t get in unless I submit my app during September? Does the time you apply really have that big of an effect if applying EA? I was thinking of maybe mid-late October, so I wouldn’t be stressed and have time to prepare.

Shouldn’t matter when you apply as long as it’s before the deadline which is probably Nov 1st. Better to get it out of the way so you’re not rushing to meet the deadline.

Umich starts reviewing apps before Nov. 1 I think.
