The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when one contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, or the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries to comprehend only a little of this mystery every day. -Albert Einstein; Write about one experience or aspect of the world that has engaged your curiosity or inspired awe in you.

I wrote about the demise of our planet and the bleak future of mankind. Is this too depressing for admissions officers to read? I don’t want them to think I constantly ponder death and the unknowability of our universe, but the truth is, it DOES capture my imagination.

Does anyone want to give it a read and give me suggestions on how to make it sound LESS morbid? lol

entropy also results in reassemblance of energy given enough time and other energy put in… example (broken watch in a box… shake it long enough = fixed watch) why be depressed when there’s that 1/100000000… shot to long for?

It sounds like the kind of essay that most experts recommend you steer away from - most admissions officers are not going to want to hear a high schooler expounding on the meaning of life and the demise of the planet… However, if you did a good job with it then it should be fine.

PM it to me so I can give you a less vague answer.

hey i wrote mine about music.
it came from inside me
i wrote how music affects people and tried to add a little profundity to it.
i think i could have done a better job with that title.
if you wrote about stars and universe, dont bust in too much scientific jargon. adcoms dont like that…coz they arent scientists or professors.
if you want to make an impression that you know more about science than an average guy, try to write that without saying too much technical stuffs.

i almost wrote that essay, but then took another one.

yet, it almost has the same theme as another essay i wrote, but i discussed the sorry state of my contemporaries in a media-dominated society (i believe it was in the ‘talents and convictions’ essay.)

my personal fav, however, is when i wrote about the Y2K scare/chaos for the historical event essay. true, it only encompassed a bit of the 90s, but i thought it was creative and rather well written nonetheless.
