Finally got D & S to submit their FAFSA.

This is our one year with two in college, and just maybe, we might have need.

Turns out D gets unsub loan and work study. Yeah! (she usually gets unsub loan.)

But the BIG surprise is, S gets work study AND a “scholarship”. Is this a mistake??? I am afraid to ask the school about conditions. Says renewable for four years, and only one we could find is that he be full time.

We were prepared to pay, so it’s not make or break, but SOOOOOO helpful.

Rather not give unnecessary details.

Any thoughts? How far out could they take it back?

If it came in your financial aid package from the school…accept it…and that’s that. That is wonderful news for you and your family. Enjoy this ONE year.

Congratulations. Unexpected little windfalls are the best. If it is labeled a scholarship and renewable for four years, i don’t think it will go away next year with only one in college. If it was a grant, i believe those are determined each year from fafsa, and it could be a one time gift. Work study may disappear next year too, but how nice to have it offered this year. Aren’t you glad you filled out fafsa?

“Aren’t you glad you filled out fafsa?”

Okay!?!

We celebrated our anniversary yesterday, and the hubs says that was my “gift” to him.

Thank you CC!

Shrink…

Don’t analyze it, just accept it. ;)

Ok, it actually says “available for up to eight semesters.”

There; done analyzing…

Congrats on the unexpected scholarship!

I would print out that paper and frame it to admire each day!

Another fafsa, another supplemental award. Efc $99,999. It’s worth it.

I’d just be glad to have the income for a 99,999 EFC. Think of the kids who can’t afford anywhere near that, and could really use the supplemental award but didn’t get one…you are very lucky.

Agreed, although I was “trained” to say blessed rather than lucky.
I say “there but for the grace of God”, several times a day. I work with those families daily.

But this is not a religious thing.

The take home is, do the fafsa. It’s worth it.

PS this might be a duplicate. Don’t see my first response, but it’s out there.
