<p>Ok if the essay says preferably 500 words? Can it be longer? Mine is way longer…</p>

<p>Not sure how widely-applicable this is, but MIT adcoms here have said that 10% over the limit is okay. So I would say you’re good up to about 550, but significantly over that… not so much.</p>
