Too many babies

The y are chills boarders and they use their own children to parent, she home schools so my guess is the education is rudimentary at best

When the Amish kids go into the world they go it with littleneducation orbsupport donuts no wonder they return

Many people in cults seem happy too

It is a simple logistical question for me. After, oh, say kiddle #10…how do you find the time, privacy and energy to make the rest! ;)

dietz- you read my mind! and posted it !!!

I do feel for the children who are not happy being carbon copies of the rest. And it may not strike until middle age.

At least Michelle did it the old fashioned way, unlike Kate & Octomom.

Another baby insures another season. What bothers me is that they make money off of TV yet don’t allow their kids to watch TV. I find Michelle to be a bit scary but the kids all seem happy. I keep expecting it to be time for one of the girls to marry. I am also amazed at how well the kids get along and how little complaining they do.
I keep waiting for one of the kids to be swayed away by the outside world they are seeing when they travel. Or at least have an interest in TV production. Also how are they going to come up with enough businesses for all the male children to run. I figure down the line they will have their own 18 Plus kids.

I agree with those who say in our over-populated world, it is irresponsible to bring so many children of your own into the world. After two, folks should adopt if they want more, providing a loving home for others.
Under any calculation, 20 IS extremely excessive unless we have an acute shortage of people and NEED people to reproduce. Last I checked, our world is over-consuming resources, not needing additional people to race to get to the 8 billion mark now that we have already reached the 7 billion mark.

I’m torn between my Liberterian side that says what happens in their home is none of my business to judge as long as they support it themselves, care for the kids healthily and don’t break laws…and my pragmatic side that says “20 kids? What the bleep are these people thinking?”

Apparently I’m a better pragmatist than Liberterian.

Baby #20 already? Gosh, I already know the perfect name! Jalape

I am for her having as many as she wants. Our fetility rate as a nation is falling. Why in the world are we denying ourselves children and allowing immigration to combat it?

What does that mean?

This is not uncommon in large families. I remember reading that Robert and Ethel Kennedy had a buddy system among their eleven children. It’s obviously unusual to find family now with twenty kids, but it wasn’t always unusual. For centuries women married young and just kept getting pregnant. The big difference is that a lot of kids didn’t survive. I’d think after the last pregnancy she would want to stop but it seems that no birth control is a matter of principle with them. I don’t see how she could keep getting pregnant after this one though if she is 45.

There are women who bear kids well into their 50s, so if they are interested, there could still be more blessings to come, along with the inevitable additional grandkids.

Their announcement made me a little ill yesterday, but I got a good laugh this morning. I went to the Today show website to check on the clue for Matt’s whereabouts for this morning and there is a picture of the Duggars with President Clinton. I know they are all from Arkansas, but there is something very funny to me about that picture!

The older Duggar daughters are the ones raising the younger Duggar children. I have watched the show and the mother doesn’t seem very involved in the children - only with the newborn child until it is old enough to be passed to an older sibling. I can’t imagine the pressure on these daughters to take care of their siblings - if the mother can’t take care of her children, she shouldn’t have any more. This is child abuse - especially for the older daughters!

Cartera45 it means we have been told that 2 is the magic number. The number of births is 2.01 per family now and it is not enough to even replace our population. It takes 2.10 for replacement. Our populatin increase is due to immigration only. The only race that is over populating is the hispanics. They have an average of 3 children. If you want to go after someone for over populating go after them. The white population is actually shrinking.

And just how well did that work out? Weren’t those kids rather wild? At least the Duggars seem to stay out of the court system and jail!

Some of the older children are enrolled in a program called College Plus.

As far as Josie’s health, the Duggars recently went to Israel. Josie had a medical emergency over there and apparently an Israeli doctor accompanied Mrs Duggar and Josie back to Arkansas. I don’t think she is out of the preemie woods yet.

Population is population to me. I don’t care whether the white population is shrinking or not. I’d just rather not think in terms of “them” and “us.” It’s really a great big “we.”

The environment doesn’t care what ethnic group the population is. When I think of this family, I always wonder if their DNA is that great that we need so much of it around. Moderation in all things, people!

Once again, for those who don’t understand their motivation:

"No, wait, there a perfectly logical explanation for having 20 kids. You see, the Earth’s population is multiplying in shocking numbers. It’s only a matter of time before there are too many of us for our natural resources to sustain. At that point it will be Pandemonium, where people will be killing eachother left and right for unheard of reasons in order to merely survive.

This dear couple is simply ensuring that its family will beat the odds…"
