Too many cross outs?

Is it bad (like does it have any effect) if you have too many cross outs…

On my normal AP USH tests, I have like 8-10 cross outs, and sometimes, 2 complete lines are crossed out. My teacher doesnt mind and she just skips over it.

However, I am worried that tomorrow, that will happen to me, so does anyone know if there are any negative effects of having too many cross outs? Can the reader count off?

I’d suggest spending a bit more time on your outline and planning if you think your reader will be irritated with crossouts.

Readers won’t count off for things marked out.

Readers aren’t supposed to deduct points for crossing out. However, subconsciously, it MAY have an affect on how the reader grades your paper. Shouldn’t matter too much though.

nawww i just spent like an hour looking at samples from a bunch of different tests at [AP Central - Exam Questions](<a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board)

and lots of the perfect scores in a variety of subjects had a lot of crossing out

I always make sure the crossed out words are distinctly crossed out, which means going back when I’m done and fully blackening the crossed out selection. I think that the readers would rather see that then a careless scribble through a sentence.
