Too Many Thoughts

I feel like I’ll feel really silly for asking really soon, but I just had to.

So I received a interview request this weekend and responded as quickly as possible. I just got word today that it’s tentatively set for Friday, which leads to the question: should I read into it? Going in, I didn’t think I had much of a shot. Reason being health problems, low SAT, average GPA etc. I thought I was a wild card for sure because of events out of my control and stellar essays but why gather information of a candidate less than a week before the decision? Would the university really put time into a kid they knew they would never select? Maybe it’s just optimistic me thinking I still have a shot? Hope please?

I was wondering the same thing. My son is borderline with sat and gpa and was interviewed last Friday. Does this mean he’s being considered? They also asked for our financial aid application to be completed. Why would they bother if he’s not even a candidate?

They would never “not consider” a candidate because of average GPA and SAT. The interview process is for any person who applied, granted that the resources are available. Some get interviewed and some don’t, it’s not dependent on your stats at all

I just assumed that this late in the game they probably would have narrowed down the pool of applicants so why bother interviewing at this point if there’s no chance. Seems like a waste of time and creates false hope

You may have a point, this late into the game, there might be a chance that they want more information. Just do what you do best during the interview: be yourself.

UPDATE: meeting rescheduled for Monday, three days before the release. What’s going on!?

This is a good sign 100%. They usually do this when they are on the fence w/ someone - exact words from my tutor is is an interviewer for CU.

I wouldn’t read into it. My friend got interviewed by Princeton a week before the release and he did not get in.

Is the interview by an alum or an admission officer?

Admissions officers never conduct interviews from what I understand.

How did your interview go MLBGM2032?

It went well - thank you for asking! Kind of short ~ 40 minutes, but I was able to say a majority of what I wanted. It’s “non academic”, so there was no real point in justifying grades or what have you. I’m just glad they’ll get another excuse to look at my application and go from there. My interviewer was pretty happy about it and said I’d make for a great addition to the school, so that’s that. Your son will be just fine no matter what happens and is in my thoughts

And you are in my thoughts as well. One more day. Good luck
