Too Much Leadership? (HYPSM)

Hey guys,

I have 3-4 core competitive EC activities that I put my all into and have some sort of leadership in them (pres, captain, copres, and co-lead).

However, I also have joined the chess team but I only did it for pure relaxation and to help my teacher out, who didn’t have enough kids without me to compete. However, I guess I was able to help us get a decent state ranking and also brought in other kids to participate. With this, I have been selected as cocaptain for next year.

I was just wondering if adding this to my app would make me seem like a person who spreads himself too thin and looks to only hoard leadership positions, which I feel is pretty far from the truth since I actually work hard in growing and participating in the clubs that I have.

Any thoughts?

P.S. I’m looking to apply this year to HYPSM, etc.

Yes. Be the person who you are, instead of trying to guess how you can become the person that you surmise admissions officers in Cambridge or New Haven might possibly want you to be.
