Is there a such thing as being overqualified? I’m applying to 4 CSU’s and I have a higher EI score than what’s the" cutoff." People told me I would get rejected because I’m eligible for UC’s. Idk I don’t think that is true, but maybe it is?
My gpa, according to the CSU calculator,is a 4.07 W. My SAT score is a 1480.
Too much? Lol.

Of course not. 1480 is not very high and may only land you into UC Merced…

Are you going by a CR/M score (1600 scale) or the CR/M/W (2400 scale)?

Yes I’m very aware that my SAT is not a 2000+, but guess what? I’m not letting that stop me from applying.
What’s the point of having a high gpa if you aren’t going to try to go to a nice school?
SAT is just one thing
Plus I’m taking the ACT, which I’m pretty sure, I will do much better on.

I like your attitude!

Most people on this site are too harsh!

Haha I always tell people that they should be risk takers. One girl has a 4.0 GPA but a 1360 SAT. She also has amazing EC’s and she really wants to go to Santa Barbara. I don’t think it’s fair that she doesn’t" stand a chance" just because her SAT is low. She’s really smart too. I told her go for it, you have amazing stats beside your SAT.
Our school had HUGE projects going on, all of us were stressed during the Oct. and NOV. SAT.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH omg I dieddddd but yes you will be fine honestly :)

This is a trolling thread.

No I honestly wanted to know. I’ve always had a fear that I wouldn’t get into sand diego state because my stats were too high. I applying to UC’s so I think that they would be like" you are applying to really good schools, you don’t really want to come to our school." Which is not true at all. I just want to open up my range of schools.
Also somebody told me I was overqualified so I wanted to clear that up with them.

There is indeed a situation where universities think you’re overqualified and are treating them as a safety, but 1° you’re not overqualified for SDSU , and 2° the universities that care are typically private universities that measure “interest” as expressed by students, something which doesn’t matter to the CSUs and the UCs.

You should try applying to universities with holistic admission practices, so that your EC’s and situation would be taken into account and your SAT not weighted as much as for UC/CSU admissions. You have Occidental, Pitzer, Whitman, Willamette, University of Puget Sound, St Mary’s College of California, Whittier… plus Mills if you’re a girl. Run the Net Price Calculators on each college website to see if you could get good financial aid from any of these.
