Too quiet?

I visited Wesleyan this past Thursday and really enjoyed the campus. I was there in the late morning and afternoon till 3:00ish I think. I was really surprised that it seemed like nothing was going on in the campus. It was really sunny and I only saw a few kids on the hill. Hardly anyone even shuffling between classes. I was wondering why it was so quiet, and if it is always like this? I visited Brandeis the next day (friday) and there was a few events going on and lots of kids shuffling between classes. Brandeis only has about 400 more students too.

Thanks for any input…we’re down to the wire here with decisions!

It’s definitely not always like that – the hill is normally pretty buzzing on nice days, and people are out and about.

I have no idea why it happened to be that way. To be fair, the hill and general campus normally fills up more after 4pm when classes end (and all events are after that – there were definitely things going on Thursday afternoon and night), but even so, I’m surprised you didn’t see more students wandering around.

It’s possible that people just had a lot of work – it’s getting to the end of the semester, and last weekend was WesFest, Tuesday was 4/20 (which lots of people take as a day to hang out even if they don’t smoke), and this weekend has a lot going on, so maybe people were taking Thursday off from fun?

it also depends where you are on camps at different times of the day.if you are near Usdan (the campus center) around noon you will see huge crowds of people. most classes Thursday tend to run 10:30-11:50, 1:10-2:30, and 2:40-4:00, so walking around in less-traversed areas during these times will make things seem quiet. and like Weskid says, the hill gets much livelier after 4pm. you definitely did not see the typical “scene”

Thanks guys. I was on the tour and we didn’t hit Usdan till the end I think around 2:00 so that might make sense.
