Too "smart" for normal standards, too "stupid" for CC standards

“80% of college bound seniors apply to 20% of US colleges and universities. there are SO MANY great places out there that ARENT HYPMS”

:P

it seems like most people on this site only look at the same 30 colleges and its kind of depressing since they are basing it rank and passing up other schools :(

You don’t need to graduate from HYPSM if you want a 6 digit income.

You also have to take in account that (likely) some people on CC pad their academic resume.
AKA lie.

^ more like exaggerate. I don’t think CC ppl are stupid enough to lie outright.

and you have to realize that a lot of people on cc have no social life

what do you think the “what do girl’s want” thread is there for

it’s good to have balance. I may not be in the top 10 of my class (even though I could be), but I’m ok with going to american not princeton because I didn’t study 2 hours for a quiz like some of my classmates. it’s not worth it

im in the same situation

i kind of have the same personality as you. I dont act nerdy and i guess you can say im kind of popualr and im pretty good at sports and i play sports all 3 seasons. Because of this most of my friends never knew i was smart until we had award assemblies and even then most of them were like who do you cheat off of. I also can sort of empathize with you about being poor. Both my parents immigrated here (im hispanic) and i feel like i have to do the best i can to actually be somebody and not be like a lot of my cousins who dropped out of hs and stuff. Drive is good and everything, but the kids on CC are ****ing insane. Like even though i want to do the best i can, i do not think its worth it to spend all of your time studying and participating in ec’s that you dont want to do. I believe hanging out with friends and just having fun is as important as getting good grades because do you wanna look back 20 years from now thinking that instead of having a good time through high school, you stayed home studying instead. Another thing, a lot of of the insanely smart kids also seem to not be that good at socializing. Many times a less qualified person may obtain a job if they have better socializing skills and better networking than a more qualified person

erm. youre out of there in a couple of years anyhow.

Someone should make a Facebook group: I thought I was Smart until I went on CC. =]

'“i do not think its worth it to spend all of your time studying and participating in ec’s that you dont want to do.”

Who says they don’t want to do those things? At my school ecs are what you do with friends to have fun most of the time. We volunteer and join like crazy and have fun doing it. The fact that its something to put on college apps is usually just a plus. Also some people love to study. I know I’m one of them. Making notecards and quizzing myself is kind of fun to me.

They have a CC group on Facebook. Look it up.

I feel stupid because of CC, but I’m hopelessly addicted.

When you people say CC, who are you specifically aiming at?

We’re aiming at the valedictorians who are ranked 1 or 2 in their class, have a 33+ ACT or a 2250+ SAT score, NMF, Have a weighted GPA of 6.0, and have no life.
I feel dumb when i come on these forums. When i go back to school, everyone thinks im a nerd and have no life ( which i do have a life for correction). My stats are mediocre compared to ones i’ve seen on here. But all my friends at school think im going overboard and have excellent grades.
Guess my 4 corners of the world is LAME

musicalamanda- i didnt mean taking a few that you actually like i was talking about the people who are involved in like 15+ ec’s. I doubt someone taking that much actually likes most of them

I know what you mean, but you’re generalization was a bit harsh. I’m involved with nearly 15 things this year and I’m glad to do them all. I understand there are people who just do them for college apps, but there are some who do it because they actually do like it.
