I know a number of people who attended Clemson and Virginia Tech, and I’m surprised that anyone could call them “slacker schools”. However, all the graduates I know studied engineering or architecture.

It looks like they just picked schools with the most competitive football programs over the past 10 years.

I find it hard to believe that no California schools are listed. Great weather, surfing, beaches… Shame on them if no one is slacking.

How is ASU not on that list??

Or West Virginia University?

Or University of Colorado?

As a Michigan fan and parent I love that MSU is on the list. ;)

Or UVa? At least one of my kids schools made the list, Virginia Tech. Very proud day.

Surprised by Vtech–my observation is that it’s a tough school (it’s tech oriented after all.) Kdog–my (prejudiced) reaction also!

Well, yes about VT, garland. It is not a school for slackers, especially in engineering , architecture, etc. The funny thing is my son was a true “slacker” in high school but has totally turned it around in engineering at VT. He has an internship for the summer right now in DC area- kids from all over, including Cornell, Yale, University of Texas, etc. are right there beside him.

Geez, I realize I should not have characterized my kid as a “true slacker” in HS. He was all state in his sport, AP Scholar w/ Distinction ,other great EC’s . He just didn’t seem to like studying or homework that much! His AP Stats teacher cornered me after one of his games (she was sweet and he had her for 2 classes and she went to lots of his games). She was frustrated that he didn’t seem to be living up to his potential. I just told her that at this time of his life, he seems to have other fish to fry! There are alot of kids like him at some of these schools on the list-alot of them get it together and do just fine.

It looks like most people here didn’t get that this was tongue in cheek.

Ha ha. You’re right,Erin’s Dad… I was just responding to garland’s observations about VT. But yes, it’s really just a silly list.

I agree, where is Arizona State on this list? And not even one school from California? Even tongue-in-cheek should have some degree of accuracy. Come on, everyone knows Caltech is the school for partiers!

I’m quite proud to be on the list. U of M people are just jealous that we have more fun and yet are often equally successful ;)

That’s correct romanigypsyeyes!!! Go Green!!

I guess the UW (Wisconsin- Madison) “Work hard, play hard” saying eliminates them from any slacker consideration.

IU thankfully missed out on this list…although we are #6 on Huffington Post’s Top 10 Hard Liquor schools :)
