RSI - research science institute
CTY - center for talented youth</p>

<p>i looked up CTY and it only goes up to 8th grade… so in most cases, it wouldn’t apply to people here.
and MITES has something to do with MIT</p>
<p>Nope, CTY goes up til you turn 16. Baby CTY only goes until seventh grade.</p>
<p>CTY is definitely the best. There is no question about it. The people you will meet and the teachers you will learn from are just amazing.</p>
<p>I think Hazhulkhen has come up with the order of “best” summer programs out there. CTY is rarely ever in discussion because most people on CC talk about the post-junior summer programs, which are the biggies. Up until this year, you would have placed NASA Sharp’s residential summer program somewhere at probably 3 or 4.</p>
<p>It would be interesting – and good information – if we did a list of the top 5 science/math summer programs and the top 5 humanities programs. Top 10 would be even better. this seems to be a question that is asked again and again. It does get frustrating if you are not a math/science person and the best opportunities everyone talks about are in the math and science area (with the exception of TASP, of course).</p>
<p>for humanities, the ones I know about are:</p>
<p>TASP, JSSS (Junior Statesmen Summer School), Thomas Aquinas Great Books Program, Stanford Summer program.</p>
<p>Does the Telluride summer program for sophomores have any other topics of interests, besides the African Studies? Is that just this summer’s theme? And is it rude to ask for nomination? Or should you just apply if you guidance counselor probably has no clue it exists?</p>

<p>preuss. there actually is a new CTY for sophmores, juniors, and seniors, at princeton university. I just received the letter last week. they only offer about five courses, but it seems interesting.</p>
<p>by what i get these are all for US students…u ppl are lucky man</p>
<p>RSI is hard as hell and MITES is pretty much for minorities. I went to NASA SHARP which is pretty good but it ended, or probably will end I think because of lack of funding.</p>

<p>NYSC (national youth science camp) is all summer after your senior year. You pay nothing and spend a month at a summer camp in the woods with visits from great scientists and there’s other stuff like camping too. Plus you go to Washington D.C. and meet with your senators/go to all the museums etc. It’s all paid for by the National Science Foundation so its free (even airfare). Only 2 people can go from each state though.</p>
