Any one know which BS have strong programs in Social Sciences, particularly Philosophy, Psychology, and Economics? Do they offer opportunities for Independent Study in these subjects beyond High School such as research/ advanced topics opportunities? Thanks so much.

I think Choate has one of the most extensive economics departments of any boarding school. They are also have a variety of religion/philosophy and psychology classes.

[Choate Rosemary Hall: Academics » Curriculum](Curriculum - Choate Rosemary Hall | Private Boarding & Day School)

They also offer a cool internship for 11th and 12th graders:

BUSINESS INTERNSHIP
Students work in a local firm under the supervision of an economics teacher. In the past, most students have worked in medium-sized manufacturing companies. Students are expected to spend eight hours per week at their internships and to write papers in which they relate their observations and experiences to the theory they learned in previous economics courses. Generally students work at their firm in the afternoons in lieu of sports. Open to fifth and sixth form students who have completed Macroeconomics and Microeconomics and have written permission of the teacher.

Thanks again 2010 hopeful. You seem to have a lot of BS Knowledge.
Do you or anyone else know if the projects can be done at a local University instead of at Firms?
