" I hope they revamp the format. Last season was terrible. Chefs of this calibre *****ing and demeaning themselves. The first two seasons were great - the chefs showed a lot of camaraderie and it was about the cooking. The last season was so depressing - watching respected chefs behave with such incivility. I hope the producers took a good look at how the show went and go back to a more dignified format."

I didn’t post that, but I would agree. I missed last night, but I’m fine with “spoilers”.

DH and I had recorded it and made it almost to the end last night before falling asleep. We missed the last 10-15 minutes. Bring on the spoiler.

I LOVE this show I’m completely addicted. But we have to watch it delayed, on demand. And yes, last season was disappointing in the non-professional attitudes – the year with the brothers was by far the best, where the food did the talking. We actually put our top four finisher -guesses in an envelope, and open it up later to see how we did. DH is a good judge of who will collapse under pressure, but I’m better at judging who is a chef and who is just a cook.

greenbutton - what a fun idea to take a guess on the top four! You should then figure out rewards for yourself…if you get either 1, 2, 3 or all 4 correct!

I like the personalities of Art, Lorena, and takashi. Sad to see Thierry go. I felt he and Takashi made such a good team. I suspect the winner will be either Lorena or Takashi.

I saw an add for a Top Chef cruise. I doubt these Masters will be included.

This show has no drama because the chefs are all good, get along and we don’t see the personal journey of discovery that a good reality show delivers. That said, the next to last episode this season 4 was one of the best top chefs ever, of any top chef. It had the final 3 paired with 2 high school students each. The chefs could not touch the food that was served; they could demonstrate but then the students had to make each step of each dish. The kids came in with dishes prepared in class and the chefs had them redo them in elevated fashion. Great show because you see the chefs teaching and relating and the kids all do so well, especially considering it’s for TV, for real critics and so on.

And when asked if he ate good food at home, one kid says we’re poor so we eat the same thing every day. Heart warming to see them succeed.

Agree, lergnom. I didn’t follow the whole season (asleep at the wheel), but I watched a few episodes, including the high school students and the final. The hs student episode was a great one… and a great challenge.
