wow on the music and scores. just wow.
I don’t know how much I can say since I’m just a high schooler myself but with those scores I feel like the lower ones on that list (USC, Vanderbilt, Penn) are pretty reasonable bets. From what I’ve read the other schools are coin flips.
chance me?

I think your test scores and GPA/rank are superb but the lack of EC’s will probably hurt. Applying to HYPS you’ll be competing against several thousand applicants with similar stats so EC’s might ultimately determine a decision between similar applicants.

However, you’re definitely competitive at all of your schools.

I think it’s good that your ECs show focus (music). I don’t know of the extent of your volunteering and other ECs, but having a few others would definitely be helpful. It’s nothing to worry about because your app looks fantastic and there’s anyway nothing that can be done about ECs at this point.

One thing about EC’s. Having a lot of EC’s is good but when you have 4 or 5 that you are really committed to it shows how much you care about certain subjects. What you did in community service is better than just helping out a lot of organizations. And all your music is better than being part of like 5 clubs in my mind.

Would it be risky to talk about religion in an essay (I haven’t submitted some yet)? I talked about my church activities a little and what religion means to me…

hey ivyleague2010, i think you have a good chance at most of these schools as well. out of curiosity, which state are you from? i know different states have different levels of all-state band…
