I saw somebody mention this from youtube and he/she said who is better from two generations of the same family than Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli? (Didn’t even mention Liza’s father).

I started thinking about it and who is better? Or it doesn’t have to be better? Other families with incredible multi-generational talent?

And that should be Rachel Kempson and Corin Redgrave. Corin’s daughter is also a talented actress–she starred in the Bramwell series shown on PBS and was also in Howards End.

Maurice, Lionel, Ethel, John, John Drew, John Blyth, and Drew Barrymore. There might have been more acting Barrymores but it’s kind of hard to trace the acting family tree. It appears to be “only” four generations, though.

You can add Bridget Fonda (Peter’s daughter) to the list.

This is all very subjective and I like all the names mentioned (except Tori Spelling which was a joke), but

the two names that come closest to me (so far) in talent compared to Judy and Liza are the Cole’s. Well, really Nat King Cole, who was one of the most talented people who ever lived. Natalie Cole was great, but no.

I keep watching Lisa’s musical performance in Cabaret over and over and over again (maybe that willl be my new obsession instead of CC). I think

it’s perfection and along with Judy’s fantastic career and the fact that AFI(I think) said Judy sang the number 1 movie song of all time, I’m still going with them. And if I get any arguments, I’m going to add Vincente Minnelli’s name (Liza’s father) to the list. He only directed An American in Paris, Meet Me in St.Louis, The Pirate, Cabin in The Sky, Father of The Bride, Kismet, The Band Wagon, and Gigi.

I do like reading about other families, and would like to read more, even if they don’t compare to Judy’s. :)
