Top Scholars Program at Umichigan

Today I received a letter in the mail from Umichigan saying that I was an admitted Top Scholar and was invited to spend a weekend getting to know the school. I was wondering exactly a “Top Scholar” is, if anyone has any idea, as I haven’t been able to find any info on it outside this letter. Is it a term used to refer to all students admitted to the school, or is it something like an honors program? I’m extremely excited about Umichigan nonetheless, and I was just wondering about this detail. Thank you.

Since there is no info about it online, I’m going to assume that it is a new program. You should call whichever number that is listed on the letter, probably the UMich Admissions Office to get more information about the event. And no, “Top Scholar” is not the general name that is given to admitted students. I don’t think the program correlates with the Honors program. If anything, maybe MCSP, the Michigan Community Scholars Program.

I had the same question.

They have several events like that to convince admitted students to enroll. There is one for student leaders, and will be one for top scholarship winners (Amaizing Blue). Some of these programs will even cover your ticket and hotel stay. If you want to go, do register as early as possible.
