Torn on deciding!

Basically my dilemma is: Should I go to University of Arizona for essentially 0$ , or choose a more expensive college that I feel is a better fit overall but will cost my family 35-40k+ a year?

I currently live in AZ and I"m not very fond of it here, and would really like a new environment.

My parents will encourage me no matter where I choose and have agreed to paid, BUT my brother is graduating a year after I do and I feel that if my parents have to pay 80k+/year between the two of us it will completely ruin them financially. Also I'm planning to attend Med School after and they said if I attend UA for free they will help with my med school tuition, if I choose the other college I will be on my own for med school.

It kind of depends on your stats. If you're a strong enough candidate, you can probably get a better "fit" school if you really don't like UA and still get merit aid (or need-based, depending on your family's economics). Also, remember that you reapply for aid each year, so once your brother enters college, you'll both receive substantially more financial aid.

What are your scores and grades?

Heres my numbers-
3.5 cGPA
2050 SAT

if you plan on going to med school, save the money now. UA or ASU would be good choices.

I can think of 40 thousand reasons why to go to school in-state.

That said, the pile of kids that think they want to go to med school that change their minds is very large. Will your parents commit to helping you with other grad school opportunities? What about if you don't go to grad school. If you save money on undergrad, will they be willing to help you with a down payment on a home (when the time comes)? Point being you should know where you stand.

*if I attend UA for free they will help with my med school tuition, if I choose the other college I will be on my own for med school. *

Either go to UAz and take advantage of that med school deal, or find a school that will give you a similar merit scholarship and see if you can get the same deal with med school.

What is your SAT breakdown? Will you take the SAT again? What about the ACT?

What exactly do you have paid for at UAz? Tuition only? What scholarship(s) will you get?
