I lost my laptop for 2 weeks and I believe someone used it use torrent on campus. What could I do to fix this? What is the penalty I would face?

<p>if they used your login for the campus network, then i’d report it to the IT department and let them know ahead of time so if they come upon something suspicious, it won’t be your fault. If you know that the thief couldn’t have used your login and would’ve had to use their own, its ok because their usage would be tracked by the network admins and you’d have nothing to do with it. I wouldn’t worry about any penalty though because i have a ton of buddies who torrent and never get caught. I don’t believe in torrenting on campus, but it is done and theres not a lot that can be done about it.
As for the files that were acquired via torrents on your pc, just delete them and uninstall the torrent program from your pc. Make sure you’ve got everything out and then do a virus scan just in case. You should have your old pc back then.</p>
