Total Cost

About what is the total cost for a student who is in Illinois and has a parent who has worked there for 8 years?
I heard they slash the prices quite a bit

Tuition $7700 (more for science, engineering, and fine arts)
Room and board $7700
Books and supplies $1000
Personal and clothing $2000
Transportation $500
Total $18900

<a href="">;/a></p>

you forgot $2900 more for business

"Personal and clothing $2000"

What's this?

uh...going out to eat, buying memorabilia, buying extra clothes, trips to the mall.
it's only estimated.

Oh, lol. I thought you had to pay $2,000 and UIUC would give you stuff, lol.

Your question is not clear but if you are asking about any breaks for students of employees of UIUC. Go here for the rules: <a href="">;/a></p>

Assuming your parent qualifies under the applicable rule, you would get 50% off tuition but not anything off fees, room & board, or anything else.

Here is UIUC's cost estimate for this year's freshman who are Illinois residents:

Tuition $7708
Fees: $2258
Books and supplies $1,000
Room and board (20 meals/week) $7,716

For tuition you would add another $3462 for business, lab science, or engineering. The above estimate does not include personal expenses. The amounts will likely go up for next year although each freshman class locks in its tution rate (but not other costs) for 4 years.

If you get the child of employee 50% off for tution, you would get $3854 off the above total (if not in science, engineering or business) for a total estimate of $15,098, not including any spending money, and obviously less if you live at home while attending.
