I just took my calc final, I just blanked, I couldn’t remember ANYTHING, every problem looked like a giant puzzle, I basically used the “trial n error” method on the entire test…

So when I got back tonight to check my notes, I realize I gotten at least 50 pts (out of 100) worth of questions wrong, that is being generous too, there were 6 word problems and I am pretty sure I got half of them wrong.

So what do you guys think I should do? I actually have a high A average (96) in the class right now, but the exam is 30% of my grade. So assuming I got a 50 on the test, my final grade would be a nice 82.2…I mean I normally wouldn’t mind a B-, but I worked my heart out for this class and never scored below an A on any of my tests/HWs…so it be a shame to see my grade free falling 14 pts…

Even if I
Should I go talk to my professor? What should I say?

Don’t worry about it. It’s done and over with and you can’t undo what has all ready been done. I’m sure you’re not the only student who froze during the final and the professor is not going to and should not give you special treatment for freezing on a final. It happens. You passed the course so move on to the next one.

I wouldn’t bother talking with the professor. When assigning your final grade he or she may take in account that you had one bad test, albeit the final, and show some mercy. If he or she doesn’t then oh well…it happens.

It happens, and its annoying, but you didn’t fail the class. I always work very hard during my entire course because I know that I’ll end up bombing the final no matter how easy/hard it is. I have horrible, horrible, test anxiety. I would just be happy with the B- if you did that poorly on the final. Its too late to bother talking to the professor I’m pretty sure, they already have enough stuff to do.

ummm… you will get whatever grade you earned?

If you are lucky, the professor will count your other grades heavier, but usually the policy is to weight the final heavier (heavier than the syllabus says if you show improvement) in place of other grades, which is not what you are looking for.

I got extremely lucky, the TA grading the test lost my test for some reason, like literally according to my professor, she remember grading my test but when it comes to recording the grades, she simply can’t find it anywhere. Being a huge class, she doesn’t remember what I got.

I wouldn’t worry about it. Relax - it happens. The best thing would be to go talk to the Professor. At my college you can retake the class and they replace your older grade.

I can one up you, I forgot take my US History II final Saturday. “Like, wasn’t there something you were supposed to do today? Hmm? Nope I’ll just sleep in and play Team Fortress 2 all afternoon”
