<p>Is cost a factor? Which school are you a resident of? The place where you are an instate resident is likely less expensive.</p>
<p>Cost is a great consideration, but just thought I’d mention that I’ve been in the field for ~25 years and am very familiar with PSU’s actuarial science department (and have hired several great employees from there). UConn–not so much. . .</p>

<p>Can your family afford either school, though? You don’t have to take actuarial science. You can take math at your in-state schools and take the actuarial science tests .</p>
