Tough decision help please

I could apply ED for wake forest now and likely be accepted by the start of my senior year and have a stress free year. On the other hand my dream school is Georgetown and if I have a legitimate shot I would like to apply. Because wake forest is hard to get into RD, I’m nervous about the slight possibility of not getting accepted into either. Can someone give me a honest answer about my chances at Georgetown? Thank you.

The Walsh School of Foreign Service is my dream school because I am passionate about politics and government and most of the professors have worked in DC and have direct experience in the fields they are teaching. I would appreciate any chances. Trying to decide if it’s worth trying. Thanks for your help!

I would not apply early decision to any school other than your dream school. If you got accepted to Wake Forest, the thought of whether or not you could have made it into Georgetown will be present the rest of senior year.

I think you have a shot at Georgetown, make sure you give it 100% and take the interviews and supplemental essays etc. Of course I can’t make any promises, but what I can say is that many students at Georgetown did similar activities as you in high school. I’m currently a high schooler myself, but I have done my research.

In addition to that, you should consider two other schools that have good political science programs in DC, American University, and George Washington University. Both of those could be sufficient safety schools for a high schooler with your credentials.

^Both those schools are known for rejecting students to protect yield.

But agreed about not applying ED to a school that is not your first choice.

Thanks for the input guys. Do either of you have any tips to make my application stronger?

By selectivity, Georgetown and Wake Forest place about 28th and 83rd, respectively (when compared to all schools nationally). Should you not get into Georgetown, your chances at WF, or perhaps good alternatives such as GW et al, should still be good.

Can you contact the fencing coach at G’town?
