Tour de France

Well, it has happened, I am a Tour de France widow once again. Anyone else?

Not a widow–an avid fan. Ever since Greg LeMond started riding way back in the 80’s.

We’re all cyclists and bike junkies!

Friends all show up at 6:00 am (MST here) to watch the day’s stage before heading off to work. (OK, not every day, but for all the TTs and major mountain stages…) And 4 friends are in Europe right now, doing a bike tour that takes them over some of the same stages that the Tour will ride over the next few weeks. Gives you a whole new appreciation of how much the riders suffer on the Tourmalet.

huge fan of the tour … I believe it one of the ultimate athletic challenges.

My dream athletic pursuits …

 1. Play in the NBA (I’m short, slow, can’t jump, and stink … even at 18 these were true)
 2. Run the 1500 (metric mile) at the Olympics (I actually could run but not nearly this well)
 3. Ride in the Tour de France … just an awesome accomplishment

really like the song by Kraftwerk

It is a summer ritual in this house - glued to the Tour. All of us. And of course we all talk to one another with an appropriate accent. We are one weird family.

A week from Saturday I’ll be sitting in a cafe watching it fly by. Can’t wait.

We follow it every year and are huge Lance fans (we knew him when…). However, we don’t get Versus so can’t watch the coverage this year.

Same here., MOWC (Versus). I was in Paris in 2003 and had a front line spot for the finish. I could not believe how fast they went. I’m upset about Versus, because we had it for hockey, and suddenly now it’s PPV.

My D is tempted to cast aside her masters degree and career aspirations and become a “podium girl”.

I love to watch the tour, but my husband tivos it and basically replays the stage all day. I have to say though, once a day is enough for me. I too am a huge Lance fan, from way back in his triathlon days in South Florida. And I am really rooting for Tyler Farrar and was so disappointed for him today. I would love to see him win against Cavendish!

I love watching the Tour. We tivo and zip through the flat and fast parts where all you see is cyclist tush and logos. Of course, we stop for the crashes. Do NOT tell me how today’s stage went, please.

That’s a problem??? :)
