Time to bring this thread back up - I took a lot of the advice offered for the Wasabi Mayo, now I need ideas on how to use the Aioli Garlic Mustard Sauce (Cherie - are you out there??). I have tried it in potato salad and deviled eggs (YUM!!) but I want other ideas to get as much out of the jar while it lasts…

Yes, yes, please, post any recipe ideas - I love this sauce, too!

OP here. Ironically, I’ve just returned from a rare trip to TJ’s. Today’s splurge item was chocolate covered cranberries. Looking forward to trying them tonight.

Last night my husband was going to Trader Joe’s and I asked him to pick up some Prosecco. I just discovered this light Italian sparkling wine, and a friend told me Trader Joe’s had a nice Prosecco in a green bottle. He had to search a bit to find it but it was there - we put a bottle of it in the fridge last night to chill and opened it tonight - this is going on my Trader Joe’s top ten list - for sure. :)

Yeah! One of my favorite CC threads!

Closet TJ to us is about 3 hours…when we go we stock up on coffee, 3 buck chuck and White Stilton cheese with apricots…The cheese is about $9 pound…only store near us that we have found it at charges $25 lb.

Wasabi mayo is also outstanding atop halibut that is then baked but I would not recommend the TJ’s halibut - go to Costco for halibut.

I consider TJ’s, Costco and my local farmer’s market my holy trinity for food.

One small item that is totally brilliant at TJ’s - maple syrup, the Grade B in the light brown plastic bottle. I read somewhere once that grade B maple syrup is the best and this is just outstanding.

Terrific thread, so glad it got raised from the ash heap

There is a package of Bruschetta in the deli section of the TJ store, near the Hummus that my family absolutely loves.

It is the most amazing stuff as an appetizer with crusty bread, or serve over pasta.

A few weeks ago, we had surprise guests call - and I needed to get some snacks together QUICKLY. Luckily we have a TJs VERY close to us.

Loaded up on veggies to serve raw, with their cilantro dressing.

And I got whole wheat mini bagels, toasted them and topped them with the jarred bruschetta and a few sprinkles of freshly grated parmesan cheese. Yummy. And healthy too!

So, as my family is watching the Hockey playoffs we are eating: crab cake appitizers, hummus with veggies, fresh salsa, sharp cheddar, triple cream brie…all from TJs. Dinner will be genova pesto over assorted tortellini with turkey Italian sausage, salad, bread…all from TJs.

Did I mention that I love TJs?

hello rachacha and bunsenburner-
sorry for the delay—been off signing books in portland and at the LA Times Festival of Books. so fun to meet tj lovers everywhere!
i am definitely putting the aioli garlic mustard sauce on my shopping list for today, because i’ve only used it once before, and that was a while ago. so thanks for reminding me about it!
off the top of my head, here are a couple suggestions–use it as a dip for artichoke leaves (or other steamed veggies), use it on salmon or other fish (as i suggested for the wasabi mayo above) or slather it on a roast beef, avocado and red onion whole wheat lavosh wrap (all of those ingredients are available…you know where!)

One of my all-time favorites!

Bought a cookbook for D for Christmas. She cooked a pork tenderloin with cherry preserve/hot sauce topping–her roommates now think she is a fabulous cook!

thanks for putting this into my head. here’s your reward–a new recipe!
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
3 zucchini, sliced into 1/4 inch rounds
1 box crimini mushrooms, halved
2 tablespoons dry white wine
2 tablespoons creme fraiche
1-2 tablespoons Aioli Garlic Mustard Sauce*
salt and pepper

Ina medium saute pan, heat the olive oil and saute the onions and zucchini for about 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and saute until vegetables brown a little, about 7 minutes. Add white wine and simmer 2-3 minutes, until syrupy. Add creme fraiche and warm through. Add aioli, toss to combine well, and season to taste with salt and pepper.
*if you like a subtle mustard flavor, go light. If you rock the moutarde, use it all!

i’m pretty sure this will be in the tj party book (no link, as apparently that’s frowned upon)–can i name it after you??

I love it! A recipe named after a cc poster’s moniker! What a tribute that would be!

I stopped into TJs today. I picked up the stilton, bagged salad, cooked chicken, hummus, bruschetta, and pita crackers (don’t recall exactly what they are called).

cherie, thanks for sharing that recipe!

My local store no longer carries Kikkoman Pearl Soymilk. So It occurred to me to stop into TJs because it was on the way on Sunday. Bought TJ brand organic soy-vanilla milk. Great price and great taste. A half-gallon of TJs cost less than a quart of Pearl.

This was my first time shopping at TJ’s. After reading all the rave on this thread, I stopped by and picked up Vindaloo and Butter chicken dinners Friday night.

I was surprised at the poor the quality of Indian dinners. I guess I am picky as a Southeast Asian immigrant who generally likes to cook my own gourmet dinners.

Vindaloo - I give a 3 on a scale of 10. Butter chicken, about 5.

Very disappointed with the quality of their Indian food.

Liked their Orange flavored chinese chicken though.

I don’t spend much time in the frozen aisle at TJs…and stay away from the prepared foods (like Vindaloo). What I do like in frozen…mangos, organic brown rices, artichokes, mango frozen bars.

I use the rice when I’m in a hurry. Needs some enhancement though. Sometimes I’ll mix in some peach salsa and canned organic black beans, and top with a little bit of shredded cheese. Yum.

I’m a baker, but after I tasted the Corn Bread, I stopped making my own, because TJ’s is better.

I also love those little packages of frozen squares of garlic made by Dorot.

YUM!!! Thanks Cherie - I am going to try the recipe this weekend. I am sure it will be popular around here once the zucchini is plentiful. Name it whatever you like!

My D heads home for the summer after her last exam on Thursday - she will have to stop at Cleveland’s TJ’s along the way for some of their creme fraiche, I’ll settle for Wegmans this weekend.

HELP!!! New addiction! Trader Joe carries chocolate and vanilla macarones in their frozen dessert section. And I am hooked, but good.
