Trader Joe's Top 10

I really miss their Green Tea Muffin Mix. Sounds strange, but it was one of those wonderful TJ flavor combinations. Not too sweet either.

And I agree with an above poster, their corn bread mix is great!

So for those of you that enjoy the Morello Cherries, what are your favorite ways of using them? Recipes?

I just bought a huge basil plant today at TJ’s for 2.99. It smells fabulous!!!

H just planted about forty of them that he grew from seed. They’re just little tikes now, but we can’t wait for them to grow up. Pesto all year!

Daughter loves the gummy fruit squares. More fruity than the average gummy.

The Green Tea cake/muffin mix was excellent. Maybe it will come back?

Any hints on ways to convince a TJs without a liquor license to keep those nifty six-bottle tote bags in stock? Every time I use mine other shoppers comment on it.

Mmmm, I just discovered TJ’s Cinnamon Almonds. Delicious!
I’m thinking I might chop up a handful and toss them over some ice cream for a decadent dessert tonight!

1) Peach or strawberry mochi - unbelievable!
2) .99 whole wheat pizza dough
3) low sugar pizza sauce
4) olive oils and vinegars
5) feta cheese
6) black forest ham slices
7) nuts
8) blue tortilla chips
9) whole wheat pitas
10) 8.99 orchids

TJ’s low(er) sodium soy sauce… Unbelievable. Made in Japan. Much tastier than the regular kind. Only 4 ingredients: water, soy, wheat, and salt. I think I’m turning Japanese… (BTW, hate that song.)

Love TJ’s rice vinegar, too. Unfortunately, their signature wines are not the best. I’d rather have a glass of Yellow Tail.

I absolutely LOVE their wine. In Blind tastings that a wine connosieur writer, I met while on vacation, has conducted, it wins out most of the time.
Their grapes are “seconds” from the more famous and notable wines produced from California Vineyards.

Milkandsugar - can you list some of your favorite wines? I love merlot and shiraz but I have the hardest time choosing! Thanks!

I tried their Shiraz (Syrah?) last week, and did find it too sour for my taste. Maybe because I like smooth, creamy tasting Shiraz?

I also bought some dessert wine which we will be drinking this weekend, and I will let you know how it tastes. Just could not pass up a late harvest wine for $5 a bottle :)

Just got back from TJs and saw this thread (wish I’d read it before!)
We live about 30+ minutes from the nearest one, so I usually just go when I’m in the area (and always around the holidays).

Some faves:
Australian red licorice (S1’s favorite)
Choc. covered espresso beans (S2’s favorite treat)
Frozen artichoke hearts
Chianti salami (the small whole ones - 8oz.)
Parmesan cheese (and other cheeses…whatever looks good that day)
Pumpernickel pretzels
Triple Ginger Snaps (my fave…love these!)
Dark chocolate fleur de sel caramels (only see these around Christmastime)
Frozen steamed clams in garlic butter (good over pasta)

I’m sure there are more, but these are the ones that spring to mind. I wish there was a TJs closer to us!

The frozen macarones are delicious. I am addicted. Also their green tea in bags (TJ brand) is excellent.

hi charlottemom-- we love the “vintjs” syrah and the “jepson” syrah. both exclusive to trader joe’s and both good bargains at 7-8 dollars per. cheers!

We like the Chardonnay and Cabo Charles Shaw wine (2 buck chuck.
My favorite is the white zinfandel.

Thanks all! I am writing those down so I won’t forget!

The Red Zinger cake is wonderful. I have been known to eat an entire one myself.

Nice article about our favorite grocery chain:

Happy employees = happy, loyal customers. That’s why I like TJ’s and Costco.

Thanks, that was a really interesting read. The parts discussing the secrecy surrounding their suppliers give me hope that somewhere out there I can find the recently discontinued Vanilla-Almond granola bars.
