Trader Joe's Top 10

This is similar to The Apple Store model.

Had the Panang curry and Thai noodles last night. They were great!

Great college friendly food. My daughter just discovered the Trader Ming Pad Thai noodles, peanut satay and the Kung Pao noodles. They are vegan friendly, come in cute Chinese take out boxes and are around 1.99 each.

Time for a TJ’s run (oh yeah, and helping my D move in to campus as a ‘side trip’). Any other new items I should be looking for?? Post 'em here!

I am cooking my last package of TJ’s gnocchi tonight to go with my escarole and beans…almost out of ginger snaps, the cupboard is just about bare : (

TJ’s cookbook is available, free shipping ends TODAY!! - [Trader Joe’s Guide - a cookbook, magazine and reference guide, all in one](http://www.traderjoesguide.com/)

Thanks, kathiep-- just sent the link to DS.

Don’t know if these are new, but new to me: TJ’s Gorditas (in freezer section) and TJ’s Fire Roasted Diced Tomatoes with Green Chiles (canned).

Gorditas are kind of like a pupusa-- serve it with salsa and creme fraiche.

Made tortilla soup with the Fire roasted tomatoes. Yum.

Just tried the Masala Lentil Dip paired with their pita crackers…SOOO good! Really like the Panang curry even if it is a little spicy! And their chocolate & raspberry trail mix is yummy too! May have to make a stop on the way home tonight!

Does TJ have good soup? D2 has a kitchen at school and was wondering if they have frozen or refrigerated soups.

They have frozen and boxed soups, canned turkey and vegetarian chili. I not aware of the canned soups. I enjoy their soups very much. I use them as bases for home made soups frequently. I believe they have some refrigerated soups.

Cali_mom, I bought the Masala Lentil Dip last week. It was very good. We ate it with Stacy’s pita chips that I bought at Costco (very good price on that compared with everywhere else, as long as you don’t mind buying it in such a large bag).

I like the Pecan Granola. It sells out often in our local store.
I also like the Beets, can’t remember their official name, but they are already cooked and peeled and sold in the refrigerated produce section. So fresh tasting.
Sweet and Spicy Pecans, Yum.

I get the pecan granola and add it to my old fashioned oatmeal along with the antioxidant dried berry mix. In the summer I add it to my yogurt. yum.

I tried something tonight that was not good - jasmine rice (that was good) with thai lime and shrimp curry. It was a frozen dinner. I work one night a week and often buy TJ’s frozen dinner’s for a treat. This one was no treat. Avoid.

I’m not crazy about TJs frozen dinners…in fact I try to stay away from these types of dinners in general. But I do keep frozen products for when I’m pressed for time. I like their frozen mahi mahi patties…good on a whole wheat bun with some salsa and lettuce. Serve with a quick salad or some veggies. The frozen brown rice packets are also very handy for when things get crazy.

The pad thai that looks like a carry-out box should be in TJ’s bottom 10.

tj’s caramel sauce with fleur de sel…oh, my! dragged some honeycrisp apple wedges through a puddle of this, and swooned. surely seasonal, so mounting massive pantry purge in order to stockpile this new item. thinking about a caramel-hazelnut tart for the weekend. so, so good!

I just tried TJ’s frozen sliced leeks. So handy! I sauteed the leeks in butter and then made potato soup. They tasted just as good as fresh leeks and were so easy to use!

On the never-buy-again list we have Triple Berry Bran Muffin Mix. This might have worked if I had added some sugar and more dried berries, but the whole texture was weird and I like bran muffins. I’m hoping the people at work disagree with my family. :)

I bought their sea salt brownie bites to take to a recital and they were really not very good, which is very unusual with regards to their baked goods. Their almond horns are amazing. Their frozen mini-tacos make a tasty quick lunch.

I just got the pomegranate-blueberry sherbet and it is FABULOUS – flavor that you can usually find only at places that make their own small-batch ice cream. I also got some little Persian cucumbers that are so good, I’m just eating them plain. I can’t wait to go back.

TJ’s lunch salads are delicious, filling and very low calorie (I usually use 1/2 of the provided dressing), and the variety is amazing.
