This thread is making me hungry!

Sally305’s - #8 - Peppermint Jo Jo’s - I forgot about these cookies! Yummy! My TJ ran out of these this past holiday season!

Ours ran out too. Very sad, but probably for the best.

OP here; never imagined this thread would still be going strong four years later or that I still wouldn’t have skimmed the surface of the treasures that TJ’s has to offer. The challenge now is to find tasty items for a gluten free, low glycemic diet. Not nearly as fun.

Worrywart: TJ’s maintains a list of its gluten free products. I believe the one they have behind the big counter is more up to date than anything they may list online. The gluten free gingersnaps are pretty good. I know they now carry gluten free flour and gluten free pizza. My body has no known issues with gluten so I haven’t tried these products, just passed on the info to one who does after I read the news.

worrywart, TJ has brown rice spaghetti and other pasta shapes. I buy it all the time because it is much better than whole wheat pasta. My kids eat it and don’t notice the difference from regular pasta. They also sell almond meal, which is much less expensive than almond flour, and rolled oats. I make oatmeal pancakes, and I replace the cup of flour with 1/2 c almond meal, 1/4 c buckwheat flour (naturally gluten free), and 1/4 c ground golden flaxseeds. (PM me if you’d like the pancake recipe.) The latter two are made by Bob’s Red Mill; our TJ carries the flaxseeds but not the buckwheat flour. Gluten-free products are NOT always low-glycemic, they are often higher in sugar.

TJ PB&J MILK CHOCOLATE BAR!!!

I am seriously addicted to them, and I am not exaggerating. I have gone to the store and stood in line for half and hour just to get these bars. They are amazing!

The oatmeal pancakes have no sugar, and they’re great.

I haven’t posted on this thread for a while, but these are some gems that TJ carries:

cooked, seasoned French lentils, shrinkwrapped in a box in the salad section, next to similar boxes of beets. They taste much better than lentils I make. I caramelize 4 yellow onions, stir in and break up the block of lentils, and heat through. Sometimes I add baby spinach or arugula at the last minute and let it wilt.

pumpkin ice cream, sold during Thanksgiving/Christmas season

frozen cubes of basil, cilantro, etc. Each cube contains about 1 tsp. They’ve just discontinued the cilantro, as I learned to my dismay when I tried to restock last week.

good supplements, vitamin D, etc.

organic milk - stays good for a long time

Irish butter

The frozen rice is really great. My D at college uses this all the time. It is so easy to prepare and it tastes good too!

My family’s faves haven’t changed over the years:
Orange chicken
Mochi ice cream (a least $1 cheaper than elsewhere)
TJ’s salsa especial
Lambrusco wine
Tea tree oil

I found brownie in a pouch in the baking section and mailed it to my D. All she had to do was pour it into bake pan and bake in her dorm kitchen. Easy, fresh brownies!

There are frozen silver dollar pancakes that my son eats at least 8 of at each sitting. They taste like freshly made pancakes.

Thanks very much for the info on gluten-free products.

Chocolate soy milk ice cream sandwiches and Mango cream ice bars.

Poor H. He is in charge of all my meals for the next week or so and while he has made a valiant attempt, we were hoping to fill out his repertoire with Trader Joes.
He just called me from our local Joes & sounded kinda panicky, they apparently are out of the Thai vegetable curry- or did they * discontinue it?*

Anyone know what the best day is to shop TJs, or does that depend on region?

It seems like they discontinue my favorites, like the mango chile lime ice pops.
:(

New macarones at TJs! And the salty caramel is delicious! At $4,99, I believe, for a dozen, assorted flavors, they are a bargain. I could only afford them once in a long spell at NYC prices. These are just wonderful! I liked the vanilla and chocolate ones, but would crave other flavors, and this is hitting the spot for me.

Now that DS and his hollow leg are back from school I have been buying the TJ Frozen Mac -n- Cheese…by the freezer full! He eats this as his after dinner snack. Oh to be young & athletic!

Trader Joe’s frozen Mac -n- Cheese is very yummy and it comes in a lite version too - we have not tried it so can not say if it is good or not.
